The Uniting Church in Australia is in a season of prayerful discernment and renewal — and Act 2 is the invitation to the whole church to be part of it. Born from the recognition that we are living through a time of massive change, Act 2 draws on wisdom gathered from across the church to ask a courageous question: what needs to change so that we might flourish?

Following the commitments of the 17th Assembly in July 2024, three streams of work are now underway — strengthening local communities of faith, building a national network for theology, formation and leadership, and renewing the church's governance and resourcing — all with a shared goal of greater flexibility, deeper congregational support, and renewed focus on worship, discipleship, mission and ministry.

As a pilgrim people walking together in hope, we invite you to stay connected with this unfolding journey, hold it in prayer, and visit us at act2uca.com to learn more, find resources, and journey with us into what God is calling us to become.

Frontier Services has appointed Dave Parker as its new National Director, marking a significant moment of renewal for the Uniting Church’s bush ministry agency.

Bringing extensive leadership experience from Scripture Union Australia, Dave will help lead the growth of bush chaplaincy, strengthen First Peoples’ chaplaincy, and expand volunteer engagement across remote communities.

“I am excited and honoured to lead this incredible organisation into its next chapter,” he says.

Dave will commence in late May.

For more than a century, Frontier Services has supported people in rural and remote communities, offering practical, pastoral and spiritual care to those facing isolation, hardship and limited access to essential services.

The President of the Uniting Church in Australia, Rev Charissa Suli, told ABC Radio Australia's Pacific Soul that the celebration of Easter didn't look away from the realities of life.

"Many of us are carrying more than we care to show. There are financial pressures, and the rising cost of living. There's private grief and loss, and the rising epidemic of anxiety, depression and addiction. Conversations that divide us more than they heal," she said.

"And yet, Easter does not look away from any of this. When Jesus appeared, he did not hide his wounds ... and this is how his peace came upon them. Not by pretending everything is fine, but by being fully present by the Spirit, in the middle of real life and real challenges."
