Sunday’s Discussion: Gratitude Grows Here 🌱

This Sunday, we explored what it means to live with gratitude—not as something we try to manufacture, but as something that naturally grows when we remember who God is and who He says we are.

Before God tells us what to do, He reminds us who we are:

Chosen. Holy. Dearly loved. (Colossians 3:12)

Through God’s grace, not our own efforts, we are welcomed into His family (Ephesians 2:8-9). When grace is remembered, gratitude grows.

We talked about how anxiety often focuses on what might happen, while gratitude anchors us in God’s faithfulness and goodness. As Colossians 3:15 says, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts… and be thankful.”

Psalm 103 reminds us to intentionally remember all God has done. What we repeatedly remember is what we’ll become.

As God’s Word fills our hearts, gratitude flows out of our lives (Colossians 3:16), and everything we do begins to point back to Jesus (Colossians 3:17).

Whether you’re following Jesus, exploring faith, or simply looking for hope, gratitude begins by remembering God’s goodness.

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances…” — 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Community and connection are at the heart of everything we do.

Generocity Church is a place of life-giving encouragement, hope, and belonging—where people are seen, known, and valued. We may be a small church, but we are full of love and a deep desire to help others step into who they’ve been created to be in Christ.

If you’re looking for a place to connect, grow, and be encouraged, we’d love to welcome you.

Sometimes two words can change everything.

“But God…”

In Ephesians 2:1–10, Paul paints a picture of humanity apart from God. Broken. Lost. Spiritually empty. Trying to do life in our own strength and unable to save ourselves.

And honestly, whether someone has followed Jesus for years or is still unsure about faith altogether, most of us know what it feels like to carry the weight of brokenness, shame, disappointment, fear or searching for something more.

Then comes the turning point:

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us…” (Ephesians 2:4)

The story changes because God steps in.

Not because we earned it.
Not because we had everything together.
Not because we were “good enough.”

But because He is loving, merciful and full of grace.

The message of Jesus has never been about perfect people. It’s about a God who meets people right in the middle of their mess and offers life, hope, healing and restoration.

For those who already know Jesus, this passage is a reminder that we never outgrow grace. We are saved by grace, sustained by grace, and called to live as people transformed by grace.

And for those still exploring faith, maybe this passage is an invitation to consider that your story isn’t too far gone, too messy or too complicated for God. The Gospel is good news because God still steps into hopeless situations and brings life where there once was none.

“But God” reminds us that no situation is beyond redemption when placed in His hands.

“You are saved by grace through faith… it is the gift of God.” — Ephesians 2:8

You’re always welcome at Generocity Church Kiama as we learn more about who Jesus is together.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.”
Psalm 107:1

Beginning the week with a heart posture of gratitude.
Not because life is always easy, but because God is still good, still faithful, and still worthy of praise.

Some days the only words we have are “hallelujah”; and that is still worship. Still surrender. Still faith.

May we start this week remembering His goodness in every season.

Church is never just a Sunday gathering.

It’s people who choose to walk alongside each other through life; encouraging, praying, showing up, and doing life together.

This past Sunday we said goodbye to a dear friend who has been part of Generocity Church Kiama since the very beginning, over 9 years ago.

One of the lasting memories we carry is from the lockdown season, standing in worship with arms stretched wide over the horizon, fully surrendered before the Lord. A moment that has stayed with us and reflects a life of faith lived wholeheartedly.

There’s a real sense of loss when someone who has walked closely with you steps into a new season. But at the same time, we’re excited for all that God will do in their lives as they move to a new town.

While we may not see each other every week, we’ll continue to pray, stay connected, and cheer them on in all that’s ahead.

This is what church looks like: people committed to one another, grounded in faith, and choosing to love, encourage, and walk together through every season of life.

Today we pause to remember and honour the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who have given so much for our nation.
On ANZAC Day, we reflect with gratitude on the men and women who have served-past and present-and the families who have stood behind them.
We remember their bravery.
We honour their legacy.
We give thanks for the freedom we hold today.
Lest we forget
