No, that’s not Jesus…

That’s Shannon McCutcheon, dressed as Jesus; and honestly, if Jesus is our role model for how to live, we reckon that’s a pretty great place to start.

This Sunday, Shannon, his wife Elle, and their children are joining us at Generocity Church Kiama to encourage us and share what they’ve been learning and growing in.

We’re passionate about everyday people encountering the love of God, knowing Jesus, and becoming more like Him.

We can’t wait to hear what Shannon and Elle will bring to help us grow in knowing Jesus, not just knowing about Him, but actually learning what it looks like to follow Him in everyday life.

Come and join us this Sunday. We’d love to see you there!

STANDING WITH OUR NEPAL FAMILY!

Our hearts are with the people of Nepal following the devastating floods that have impacted communities across the region.

We are incredibly thankful that our GC Nepal churches and families are safe, however many will have friends, family and communities directly affected by the devastation.

Would you join us in praying for those missing or injured, families grieving loved ones, rescue teams and communities still at risk. We pray that in the midst of such loss, people would know the comfort, peace and presence of Jesus.

We’ve also launched a Nepal Flood Relief Campaign to practically support those affected. Every contribution can make a difference, and we’d love our Generocity community to consider how they can give.

Let’s continue to stand with our Nepal family — in prayer and in practical support.

Everyday people having an eternal impact for our extraordinary God.

Let’s be prayerful for our friends in Nepal.

!! Prayer Request from our Nepal family....

Dear family and friends,

Our hearts are filled with deep sorrow today. We are devastated and saddened by the destructive floods that struck this morning—affecting the regions spanning Tibet, China, Rasuwagadhi, and the lower reaches of the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers, as well as Dhading. It is difficult to put into words the anguish we feel upon hearing reports of collapsed bridges, washed-away homes, and the tragic loss of human lives. In the wake of such a sudden calamity, it is only natural and real to grieve.

We know Our God is not distant from us in our suffering; He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). How can we stand together in this moment?

Let us all join together in prayer:

- For the missing and the injured: For those who remain missing, and for the safety and recovery of the injured.

- For bereaved families: Let us pray that God grants peace and comfort to the families who have lost their loved ones and to those agonizingly awaiting news.

- For rescue teams: For the safety and wisdom of the security personnel, volunteers, and disaster management teams who are risking their lives in rescue operations.

- For settlements at risk: To ensure the safety of all riverside communities, including those in Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, and Chitwan. In times of such calamity and sorrow.

Let us place our trust in Christ

Amen

🇦🇺 The Australian Census is this Tuesday, 11 August!

When completing the Census, you’ll come across the optional Religion question (Question 24).

The Australian Christian Churches (ACC) is encouraging those who identify as Pentecostal to:

👉 Answer the Religion question
👉 Select “Other”
👉 Write “Pentecostal”

Writing “Pentecostal” helps ensure those who identify with Pentecostal churches are counted consistently in Census data and contributes to a more accurate picture of Australia’s religious landscape.

🎥 We’ve included a short video from ACC in the comments explaining this recommendation and why it matters.

This last Sunday we explored the words of Jesus in Matthew 5, looking at the Beatitudes.

Many of us have read these verses countless times, but this week we slowed down and noticed something easy to miss. The Beatitudes aren’t just a collection of beautiful sayings. They reveal a progression of how God shapes the lives of His people.

It begins with recognising our need for Him, mourning our sin, growing in humility, and developing a genuine hunger for His righteousness. As God continues His work in us, those inward changes begin to overflow into our relationships through mercy, purity of heart, peacemaking and a willingness to remain faithful, even when following Jesus is costly.

The Beatitudes aren’t a list of qualities we have to achieve to earn God’s acceptance. They describe the kind of character God develops in those who have put their trust in Jesus, received His forgiveness, and been made right with God by His grace. From that place of relationship with Him, He continues to transform us to become more like Christ.

If you’ve never taken the time to slowly read through Matthew 5:1–12, we’d encourage you to do that this week. Ask God what He might be saying to you through these words of Jesus, and take time to reflect on how He is shaping your own life.

If you’d like to talk more about the Beatitudes, your faith, or what it means to follow Jesus, we’d love to connect with you. Please feel free to send us a message or join us one Sunday. Everyone is welcome.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” Matthew 5:6
