The Renewal of Vows of Brothers Shenal Perera and Nimesh Jayakody, C.Ss.R.

On the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our confreres, Brother Shenal Perera, C.Ss.R., and Brother Nimesh Jayakody, C.Ss.R., renewed their religious vows for another year.

The renewal of religious vows marks an important stage in their ongoing journey of Redemptorist formation towards the priesthood. Through their continued commitment to the vows of chastity, poverty, and obedience, they deepen their dedication to Christ and to the missionary life of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer.

We congratulate Brother Shenal and Brother Nimesh on this significant step in their vocation and continue to pray for them as they journey through formation towards priestly ministry. May the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose Nativity we celebrate today, accompany and guide them in their vocation and faithful service to the Church and the Congregation.

September 8 — Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Gospel Verse:
“She will give birth to a son and you must name him Jesus.” (Matthew 1:21)

Reflection:
The birth of Mary marks the beginning of God's plan for the coming of Christ. Through her humble "yes," salvation entered the world in a new way.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, through the birth of Mary you prepared the world for your coming (Matthew 1:1–16, 18–23); teach us to welcome God's plans with faith and humility.

September 7 — Monday of the Twenty-Third Week in Ordinary Time

Gospel Verse:
“Is it against the law on the sabbath to save life” (Luke 6:09)

Reflection:
Jesus reminds us that all the laws in our lives are made for the benefit of humanity. We do not obey the law merely for the sake of the law itself.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, you were not afraid to break the Sabbath law in order to save people (Luke 6:6–11); teach us to put humanity first in our way of obeying the law.

Lord Jesus, you taught us to seek reconciliation with one another (Matthew 18:15–20); teach us to be peacemakers who heal divisions.
