I knew that I had to write this at some point but I thought it would be much later in the year. I cant see an easy way to write it either.
Anyway , here goes.
Last year, after much prayer and fellowship I made the decision that this would be my last year with Fusion Australia. It is my tenth year of a 3 year commitment.
It is just time to move on. I have some studies that I want to finish, followed by a lap of Oz and then I plan to move to Indonesia hopefully to teach English as a second language and be part of Fusion Indonesia.
Proverbs 3:5-6 is going to be strong focus for me in the next couple of years.
Earlier this year I had a discussion with our CEO about timing and about the future of the centre. We decided that June would be a good time to finish up.
Our CEO then discussed next steps with the Fusion board and the decision was made to close the centre as well. I am told it was a difficult decision to make.
I let our new landlords know that we would be finishing in June. They were disappointed as they really wanted to support what we were doing. A couple of weeks later they asked if we would be willing to finish earlier.
The new agreed date is the end of April.
So there you go. Instead of having 8 months to wind down we have 4 weeks. I had wanted to do another Pilgrimage but that won’t happen now.
The passage that comes to mind is Ecclesiastes chapter 3 where we are reminded that there is a right time for every purpose under the sun, and that it is God who knows the right time.
Personally I am very much at peace while all this is happening.
We are in the process of selling/giving everything – all our stock, our fittings, our youthwork gear, our camping gear and all the office stuff.
The 14th of April will be our last trading day. That is a Sunday and then we have 2 weeks to remove what is left. I am thinking about a road trip to the Imanpa community with anything leftover which might be useful for them. They will be wanting blankets and warm clothes, and there are a heap of bike parts at John’s Place in Nuri.
We have been finding new supports for our young people doing Duke of Ed, Dungeons and dragons group has found a new home, we are looking for a home for our craft group. I have a heap of archiving to do.
Lots of people have been visiting us to let us know how important we have been and how much we will be missed – that’s kind of nice.
I have been thinking of how we can finish. Fusion started in Kapunda with a group of people praying in an empty shop – I was thinking that might be the way we finish – probably Saturday April 27. Let me know if that is something you might be interested in.
Kind regards and thanks for your support for Fusion in south Oz over the last 50 odd years
