The Kandanga Cemetery Association Inc. operates the beautiful and historic Kandanga Cemetery and its outdoor chapel surrounded by tranquil gardens.
A $2,430 Volunteer Grant has allowed the Association to purchase equipment to support the work their volunteers do in providing respectful burials, end of life ceremonies, and maintaining the vast cemetery gardens that offer a calm and quiet place for reflection and remembrance.
The Kandanga Cemetery has been in use for more than a century, and the grant has made it possible for the Association to replace the old computer used for administration and safekeeping the records that chronicle the rich heritage and pioneering families of the Kandanga region, install security cameras to protect their tools and the equipment from theft and damage, and purchase a gazebo to provide shade and shelter.
The funding will help reduce the manual labour that the dedicated volunteers undertake and support the significant contribution they make to the regional community.
