Seven goals of ISKCON

1. To systematically propagate spiritual knowledge to society at large and to educate all people in the techniques of spiritual life in order to check the imbalance of values in life and to achieve real unity and peace in the world.

2. To propagate a consciousness of Krishna (God), as it is revealed in the great scriptures of India, Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam.

3. To bring the members of the Society together with each other and nearer to Krishna, the prime entity, thus developing the idea within the members, and humanity at large, that each soul is part and parcel of the quality of Godhead (Krishna).

4. To teach and encourage the sankirtana movement, congregational chanting of the holy name of God, as revealed in the teachings of Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

5. To erect for the members and for society at large a holy place of transcendental pastimes dedicated to the personality of Krishna.

6. To bring the members closer together for the purpose of teaching a simpler, more natural way of life.

7. With a view towards achieving the aforementioned purposes, to publish and distribute periodicals, magazines, books and other writings.

The Sunday School children and parents had a blissful spiritual day spent with the association of HG Gauranga Darshan Prabhu.

In the beautiful Whiteman Park, surrounded by lush green trees, light breeze, bright sun, a whistling train and a play area, we gathered in the morning to immerse ourselves in the very beneficial two lectures delivered by prabhuji on Helping Children Progress in Bhakti.

Prabhuji was in his friendliest self, answering all queries and making everyone laugh and at the same time deliver excellent lectures that were beneficial both to parents and children.

The classes were filled with many practical parenting insights and heartfelt guidance on nurturing children in Krishna consciousness through:

• Sādhana
• Svādhyāya (study)
• Seva
• Sanga
• Sadācāra (good character)

Prabhu also shared practical qualities to cultivate at home such as gratitude, humility, appreciation, tolerance, non-envy, and compassion. Very relatable and applicable for everyday family life.

Even small changes in parenting can make a lifelong impact on a child’s spiritual journey. The knowledge that we gained, will stay with us for a long time and we are keen to apply all of it in our lives so we can progress in devotional life together as a family.

The book table was busy since the beginning of the day and children formed a long queue to get their books signed by their favourite author.

The day ended with sumptuous prasadam made by our lovely parents and volunteers. Biryani, pizza roll, pasta, sushi, sandwiches, cupcakes, donuts, cookies, juice, mango lassi, mint drink, you name it and we had it there.

We look forward to another blissful day with prabhuji as soon as he visits us next.
