Cool story to start your week with. Love seeing how God transforms a person’s life
On this day, May 11, 2026, I’m celebrating fifty years of living my life as a Christian believer.
Fifty years ago, on the morning of May 11, 1976, I woke up from a good night’s sleep feeling a very changed man. It’s not easy to explain, but I felt a calm and peace I had never felt before. I felt this way for three days, and then it was as if I was dropped back into my old shoes. My initial thoughts were that God had given me a taste of how I could feel every day of my life, but that it was up to me to maintain that level of peace and serenity. I now know that my spirit had been awakened in me, in other words, I received God’s Holy Spirit.
Little River Band was starting its Australian tour to promote the release of our second album “After Hours”. We flew to Brisbane, and drove in rental cars to the city of Toowoomba. The guys in the band noticed there was something different about me. On arrival at our motel our lighting director, Mick Lillie, looked directly into my eyes and said, “Man, what have you been smoking?”, insinuating that I was high. I was as straight as a die! After checking into my room I walked to the nearest book shop and said to the salesperson that I wanted to buy a Bible that was printed in every day English. He recommended The Living Bible. I read it from cover to cover without there being any major revelation. Still, it was the start of my Christian journey believing the truth to be Jesus’ words “I am the way, the truth, and the life”. Fifty years on I still read my Bible daily, and believe it to be God’s word to man.
There is so much more to my Christian walk, but too much to hold your attention in one post.
God bless you all!
