This is a time to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal & Torres Strait people – the world’s oldest living cultures.

In the spirit of this year’s National NAIDOC Week theme, we give thanks and gratitude to our Elders.

Across every generation, our Elders have played, and continue to play, an important role in our hearts, communities and families.

They are cultural knowledge holders, trailblazers, nurturers, advocates, teachers, survivors, leaders, hard workers and our loved ones.

We draw strength from their knowledge and experience, in everything from caring for land and sea, to justice and human rights.

We pay our respects to the Elders we’ve lost and to those who continue to pave the way forward.
