Our Shared Vision describes the kind of community we believe God is calling us to become together.

Church Council are busy working on its rollout and the practical steps that will help the vision take shape across the life of IUC.

While the full vision document remains important, words on a page can sometimes only take us so far. We hope this short video helps communicate the movement and connections within our Shared Vision in a way that a text document might not—and helps us imagine how its shared rhythms could shape our life together.

There will be more to share as this work develops. For now, we invite you to watch, reflect and begin exploring the vision with us.

What would you say if you had one Sunday to tell the church something you believed it really needed to hear?

This August, Indooroopilly Uniting Church is hosting our “Soapbox Series.” We’re inviting three preachers to speak about something they believe the church needs to hear, ask, wrestle with, reconsider, confess or repent of. The choice of topic and biblical text is theirs—and we’ve encouraged them not to shy away from something challenging or provocative.

Our preachers will be:

• 16 August — Rev Kaye Ronalds, former Moderator of the Queensland Synod• 23 August — TBC• 30 August — Rev Bruce Moore, current Moderator of the Queensland Synod

Join us at 9.00 am or 6.00 pm at Indooroopilly Uniting Church.

Come ready to listen, reflect and be challenged.

Calling all Uniting Church history lovers!

Trinity College Queensland is hosting a Church History Symposium celebrating almost 50 years of the Uniting Church in Queensland. The day forms part of IUC's very own Dr Rachel Krohn’s History of Christianity in Australia unit.

Through lectures, discussion and Q&A, the symposium will explore the UCA and UAICC in Queensland, multicultural expressions of the Uniting Church, and the history of theological education in our state.

📅 Saturday 15 August, 9.00am–4.00pm
📍 Trinity College Queensland, Auchenflower
🎟️ $20, including morning tea and lunch

This promises to be a fascinating and thought-provoking day.
Come along to learn, reflect and join the conversation!

☕ Coffee & Chat update

Unfortunately, there will be no Coffee & Chat this week, as our minister has come down with a serious case of the dreaded man flu.

He’ll be resting, bravely enduring his symptoms and hoping to make a full and miraculous recovery soon!

Coffee & Chat will return next week—with Harlee hopefully restored to health and ready to drink coffee and chat once again. 😷

Over the coming three weeks, we’ll be exploring the six rhythms at the heart of our Shared Vision for Our Life Together—practices through which we seek to become more attentive to the Spirit, more deeply formed in the likeness of Christ, and more ready to respond as the Spirit leads.

Our services will be a little different: each week will include two short sermons or reflections, with one focused on each rhythm. Yes, that means two sermons in one service—but we promise they will both be short(ish).

Week 1: Attentive to God

1. Gather for worship and be sent
2. Simple, sustainable prayer

Week 2: Formed Together

3. Scripture in community
4. Supportive community and Christlike relationships

Week 3: A Shared and Generous Life

5. Community beyond Sunday
6. Generosity and stewardship

Join us as we reflect together on the shared rhythms that can shape our life as a community and make us more attentive to the Spirit’s work among us.

Sundays at 9:00 am and 6:00 pm

Please note that there will be no Coffee and Chat tomorrow, Wednesday 1 July, due to a clash in the minister’s diary.

Coffee and Chat will resume as usual next week.

A reminder that if you would like to make a private appointment with the minister, you are always welcome to contact the church office to arrange a time.
