In the Sacrament of Baptism, the elements of water and fire are central, as water is poured in the names of the Holy Trinity over the head of the initiate and a burning candle is presented as a sign of enlightenment by Christ.

These two sacramental signs tell of the promise of the newborn and reborn Christian: that being Christened they might, in the Prophet Isaiah’s words today, be endowed with God’s spirit, champions of justice, servants of goodness, bringers of light.

The Sacrament of Baptism initiates and purifies: it also unifies. Baptism brings together diverse peoples into a single family, the children of God.

✝️ Wishing you a Happy and Holy Christmas! May Christ's birth bring you joy, peace, and comfort.

The Incarnation shows God's immense love, marrying divinity and humanity in Jesus. Through this, we've been gifted with graces beyond our dreams, sharing in God's divine nature.

Our salvation isn't just forgiveness, but a call to holiness in everyday life. Jesus' humanity shows us that every aspect of life can make us holy – work, rest, eating, celebrating. As St. Athanasius said, "God became man, so man can become God."

Let's celebrate with modest, chaste, obedient, and prayerful joy, avoiding consumerism's pitfalls.

Emulate St. Joseph's quiet, faithful service, who provided for Jesus' needs. May his example inspire us to rejoice in God's gift and live simply, lovingly, and charitably. Happy and holy Christmas to you and your loved ones!

On this day, 16th July, back in 1251, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to St Simon Stock, the English head of the Carmelite Order with a multitude of angels.

St Simon was holding the Scapular of the Order and promising that whoever dies wearing it, will not go to hell.

To obtain the promises associated with the scapular, one must honour Our Lady not just by dying in the scapular, but by living in it- that is by wearing it faithfully and endeavouring sincerely to lead a Christian life by imitating Mary’s life of virtue in contemplation and action.

Holy Mary, Mother of God, our life, our sweetness and our hope, Flower of Carmel, pray for us sinners now, that in the hour of our death we might be united with you and with your divine Son and for all eternity. Our Lady of Mount Carmel, pray for us!
