Yesterday we ventured out and attended the Horsham U3A’s seniors expo at the Horsham Town Hall.
This was an opportunity to promote a new volunteer program we’re running.
The Maydale Social Garden & 150km Feast Volunteer Gardening Project’s purpose is to provide some ingredients for the menu at the 150km Feast and for the market the following day, by growing a selection of vegetables and herbs in our social garden.
Volunteers are inducted through a familiarisation tour of the historical Maydale Reserve precinct before planting, cultivating and harvesting begins in the garden.
Established in February 2021, the 150km Feast is an award-winning outdoor dining experience which celebrates the wine & food producers within 150km of Horsham. It gathers food lovers from across the country for a two-day festival with the signature dinner on the last Saturday of February annually, before the finale on Sunday which combines a food truck and wine festival showcasing local wineries, breweries, distilleries and food producers alongside an artisan market.
The 150km Feast aims to uncover the food bowl which lies at the foothills of The Grampians and provide greater opportunities for people to really feel a sense of belonging in the community by helping at the festival itself.
A harvest festival like no other, celebrating good food, good wine and good company on the banks of the Wimmera River at Maydale Reserve.

If you’re interested in joining us week days, send us a message. We’d love to hear from you. ❤️
