Hwa Tsang Buddhist Monastery

Hwa Tsang Buddhist Monastery To encourage the practice and the propagation of Buddhism in Australia. Our religious services and Dharma talks are open to all.

The aim of the Monastery is to encourage the cultivation of right understanding and practice in Buddhism. We aim to spread the Buddha's teachings of the Four Noble Truths, and promote the application of the Noble Eightfold Path in our daily life, his peaceful path away from suffering. In the way of the Mahayana Buddhist Tradition, we encourage loving kindness, compassion, wisdom, and to help other

s in their spiritual development. As well, visitors are welcome to refer to, or read books, within our monastery library.

🪷 Jul 26: The Service of Enlightenment of Guan Yin (Avalokitesvara) Bodhisattva
🙏 Aug 16: Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva Services starting (cont. for 4 Sundays); Blessing and Birthday Service (7th lunar month)

🕘 Services start at 9.00AM

📌 The dates listed are based on the Gregorian calendar.

Additionally, we hold services on the 1st and 15th days of the lunar calendar (new moon and full moon days), starting at 10:30 AM.

✨ Hwa Tsang Monastery Community Facilities Fundraiser Progress Update ✨

As of April 30, 2026, we've raised A$1,990,318 which is 33.2% of our goal for the Community Facilities Building Project! 🏠 Every contribution matters — let's keep building together! 🙏

The construction of the Project is currently well and truly underway. We are still short of 66.8% from our targeted goal of $6M. Your continued support will be greatly appreciated.

🌸✨ UniBodhi Visit to Hwa Tsang Monastery (02-05-2026)✨🌸

We were delighted to welcome students from UniBodhi - University of Sydney Buddhist Society to Hwa Tsang Monastery for another meaningful day of learning, reflection, and connection. Through listening to the Dharma, engaging in discussion, meditation and experiencing the peaceful monastery environment, students had the opportunity to deepen their understanding and appreciation of Buddhist teachings, strengthening faith and confidence in the Triple Gem.

It was heartening to see young minds come together with sincerity, curiosity, and openness to learning. May the wholesome seeds planted during this visit continue to grow.

🌿🤝 HTM Tuition Class Participating in Bushcare 2026 🤝🌿

Students and teachers from HTM’s Tuition Class took part in May 2026 Strathfield Council Bushcare, contributing their time and effort to care for the environment and local community.
Through simple acts of service, students learned the importance of responsibility, teamwork, and compassion through action.

On the day, Strathfield Council also presented the Certificate of Appreciation to Hwa Tsang Monastery, thanks to everyone for their assistance in the past years.

By caring for the world around us, we also put Buddhist values into practice — cultivating mindfulness, gratitude, and consideration for others.

華藏寺補習班的學生與老師參與了2026年5月 Strathfield市政府所舉辦的園林照顧活動，為環境與社區盡一份心力。在服務過程中，同學們學習了責任感、團隊合作，以及將關懷落實於行動之中。
當天Strathfield市政府還頒發了感謝狀予華藏寺，感謝大家多年來的參與與協助。

🏗️🔩 Steel Framework Construction Progress 🔩🏗️

Construction of the steel framework for the Hwa Tsang Monastery Community Facilities Building is now underway. Piece by piece, the structure continues to rise, bringing the vision of a future space for learning, practice, and community activities closer to reality.

Our fundraising is still behind by 60% from the target to fund the construction. We need to achieve this target as soon as possible as the construction is being completed. We cordially appeal for everyone's generosity and support.

Thank you to everyone whose continued support and encouragement help carry this project forward.

🪷✨ 2026 Vesak & 2025 Vesak Throwback ✨🪷

As 2026 Vesak is approaching, we look back on last year’s meaningful celebration at Hwa Tsang Monastery. Devotees gathered to commemorate the birth of the Buddha through chanting, Dharma reflections, and the symbolic bathing of the Buddha — a reminder to purify our minds and cultivate compassion and wisdom.

We warmly invite you to join us this year on the 24th of May 9.00am to noon for our Vesak chanting service and bathing the Buddha.
On the same day, we will also have our Vesak FUNd Fair!
This is a grateful day in recollecting the kindness and teachings of the Buddha, and a joyful day of community gathering for a good cause.
