One of the ideas from UMC 2026 that challenged a lot of people: our role isn't to invent a purpose or build our own kingdom. It's to join what God is already doing in the world.

Mission is derived, not original.

Before it was ours, it was His.

One of the most encouraging reminders from UMC 2026: you are God's workmanship. His masterpiece. (Ephesians 2:10)

In a world that constantly invites comparison, God calls us to remember who we are. You were uniquely made by God, for His purposes.

Maybe it's time to stop measuring yourself against everyone around you—and start seeing yourself the way your Creator does.

"Christ in you."

A simple phrase. A breathtaking reality.

No wonder Paul called it "the hope of glory."

The gospel shines brightest when you've seen the darkness it rescues you from.

One of the most powerful moments at UMC 2026 was hearing a firsthand story of transformation—from a Hindu background to a life shaped by Jesus Christ and His Word.

Stories like these remind us that the gospel is not simply information to be understood. It is the power of God at work in real lives.

Stories of transformation remind us why mission matters.

🌋 "God's love is like a volcanic eruption."

One of the most memorable illustrations from UMC 2026.

A love so great that it overflowed into the world through Jesus Christ. A love that moved toward us before we ever moved toward Him.

Mission begins here—not with us, but with God.

What image or illustration has helped you understand God's love more clearly?

One of the key truths explored at UMC 2026 was this:

Mission is not just something God does from time to time—it flows from who He is.

The Father sends the Son. The Father and Son send the Spirit. And the triune God sends His people.

Mission is not simply a program of the Church or an activity for a few enthusiastic believers. It is our participation in God's eternal purpose for the world.

When we pray, give, go and support those who serve, we are joining in what God has been doing from the beginning.

Looking back over years of ministry in Chad, Anne and Rich reflect on the lessons they wish they had understood earlier: knowing God's character, embracing unexpected disappointments, trusting Him through pain, extending grace to others, and choosing the harder path of obedience when it would be easier not to.

Their story is a reminder that God leads us one step at a time. He wastes nothing—not our failures, disappointments, misunderstandings, or struggles. Instead, He uses them to shape our faith and draw us closer to Himself.

May these reflections encourage you wherever you find yourself today.

One of the images that stuck with a lot of people coming away from UMC 2026 was this one.

In Finding Nemo, Marlin spends the whole journey wondering how he'll make it to his destination.

Sometimes mission feels like that. We focus on how far we have to go, how much we don't know, or how inadequate we feel.

But our job is to find the current. Find where God is already at work—and join Him there.

UMC 2026 🎥

One session you're discussing outreach strategies and evangelism.

The next you're wrestling with profound questions about the humanity and divinity of Christ.

This is what we loved about UMC: mission rooted in deep theology.

The wilderness appears again and again throughout Scripture.

Moses spent 40 years in the wilderness before leading Israel. John the Baptist prepared the way in the wilderness. Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness before beginning His ministry.

Because before God works through us, He often works in us.

In the wilderness, Moses learned dependence. In the caves, David learned trust. In the desert, Israel learned that God's provision was enough. Paul spent years being shaped before stepping into the missionary journeys for which he is now remembered.

The wilderness is where faith is tested, character is formed and self-sufficiency gives way to dependence on God.

And the wilderness is not always a place.

Sometimes it is just the season between being called and being sent. The waiting between a promise and its fulfilment. The hidden years when God seems quiet but is doing some of His deepest work.

What has God taught you in a wilderness season?
