We are thrilled to be hosting the Hobart launch of Campbell Markham’s newly published book: Marie Durand: Prisoner of the Tour de Constance, 1730 to 1768—Her Life and Letters

In 1730, nineteen-year-old French Protestant Marie Durand was arrested, had her head shaved and was imprisoned for refusing to renounce her faith. She could have regained her freedom by converting to Catholicism, but she refused and remained imprisoned for thirty-eight years.

Campbell’s book brings Marie’s extraordinary story to life through a biography and the first English translation of her forty-eight surviving letters. Written from prison to pastors, churches, family members and even the Queen of France, her letters reveal a remarkable story of courage, faith, suffering and freedom of conscience.

Campbell will be introduced by Alistair Bain, Senior Pastor of St John’s.

Light refreshments will be served, and copies of the book will be available to purchase and have signed by the author.

Well I think it's easy to say Paint and Sip was a raging success! 🎨 So many fabulous still life paintings, all with their own flare and personal touches. Thank you for all who joined in the fun and were brave enough to get a little messy!
We thank God who made all people with an ability to play and create. What a gift.

Thank you to everyone who donated goods towards the Hobart City Mission Winter Drive! Although there is much greater need than will be covered by our table of donations, we send our love and prayers with these blankets and sleeping bags.

Is it really possible that one day I will have nothing left to pray for – not because I have exhausted every prayer, not because I’ve lost all hope, but because my deepest hopes have come to pass?

I’ve reason to believe it is. Because even now, even here, in unexpected places and unexpected ways, “the light shines in the darkness”."

Did you know we have a 5pm service on the first Sunday of every month? ✝

If you are curious about church, but are looking for a smaller, casual, and more discussion-based environment, we encourage you to join us at a 5pm service.

We gather around tables to engage with each other more easily as we read, pray, ask questions, and listen to a shorter bible talk. The evening finishes with a shared meal.

Thank you all for your support and prayers today. We've had a great Sunday. God gave us a beautiful sunset as we gathered for our monthly evangelistic service at 5pm.

The building will be cleaned up, and we are as committed as we have ever been to seeing the glorious gospel of Christ proclaimed to those who are lost, as well as to those whom God has found.

Friends. A Public Service Announcement.

Our building has been very extensively covered in graffiti overnight. The words and signs are confronting. The police have been called and the Board of Management is already working on a solution.

Please be aware that the words may be triggering especially for young, and vulnerable people.
