Office of Youth Evangelisation - Tasmania We are an agency of the Catholic Archdiocese of Hobart. We provide opportunities for young people across Tasmania to connect with the Catholic faith.

The Office for Youth Evangelisation is the agency for youth and youth ministry in the Archdiocese of Hobart. Our aim is to interest, invite and involve youth and young adults in a personal relationship with God, to encourage them to live out their baptismal call and participate in the life and mission of their Church Community. Office for Youth Evangelisation invites youth and young adults to be involved in various projects and events where they can build relationships with each other and God; their spiritual life can be fed and nourished; and their journey of growing up Catholic can be supported and encouraged. Is pop culture good? Should I burn the books and get rid of the screen?

Join us next week on Thursday 3 September, to share a meal and hear from Fr Steven Smith as he leads a panel discussion with Eilidh Direen and Daniel de la Motte exploring how pop culture can become a powerful way to share, or a stumbling block to receiving, the Gospel.

Perspicere means to see through! Our Hope for this event is to gather as young adult dating, engaged or married couples to see through the lens of the sacrament of Holy Matrimony!

Our day will consist of:

- Morning tea

- Parts from the Symbolon Series by Augustine Institute, exploring together God's plan for marriage, the church's teaching on the sacrament, scriptural writings on marriage and more!

- Couple connect groups

- Q&A with special guests Sean and Sandra Werapermall, and Duncan and Martina Macfarlane

- Concluding with a time of prayer and commitment

Young adults from around Hobart welcomed Archbishop Tony Ireland to speak to them at their monthly Big Pub Night gathering.

Archbishop Tony spoke on 'Transfiguration & Transformation', reflecting on how an encounter with Christ transforms us from within.

Drawing on the Gospel of the five loaves and two fish, Archbishop Tony encouraged young people to recognise what God has placed in their hands.

โ€œHe does not ask the apostles to produce what they do not have. He asks them to bring what they do have," he said.

He reminded those gathered that vocation is ultimately about offering those gifts to God and others. Reflecting on the words of the late Cardinal Francis George, he left the young adults with a powerful take-away:

โ€œThe only thing we take with us when we die is what we have given away.โ€
