🕌 Did You Know?

The first known Muslim in Tasmania was Saib (Sahib) Sultan, an Indian Muslim sailor who arrived in Van Diemen’s Land (Tasmania) in 1807 after surviving a shipwreck journey through Norfolk Island.

He later settled near New Norfolk, became a farmer and landholder, and is recognised as one of the earliest Muslims and South Asian settlers in Australia. Colonial records often referred to him as “Jacob Sultan.”

His story reminds us that Muslims have been part of Tasmania’s history since the very beginning of European settlement. 🌏✨

Eid celebration -2026.

On this blessed Eid morning, more than 400 believers stood shoulder to shoulder—hearts united, voices humbled before Allah. 🤍✨

After the prayer, the reminder echoed deep within us: in a world shaken by war, pain, and uncertainty, the believer does not lose hope. We raise our hands not just for ourselves, but for the entire Ummah—for those suffering, for those unheard, for peace, mercy, and serenity across the world. 🌍🕊️

Let our duas be louder than the ظلم, let our unity be stronger than division, and let our faith remain unshaken.

May Allah bring ease to every heart in hardship and grant peace to all of humanity. Ameen. 🤲

*MOON SIGHTED – Eid-ul-Fitr Prayer Announcement – UTAS*

Dear Community Members,
Assalamo Alaikum,

Alhamdulillah, the moon has been sighted in Australia. Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday, 21 March 2026, InshaAllah.

We will be holding the Eid prayer at the UTAS Activity Centre INSHALLAH.

Venue: Activity Centre, TUSA Building
(Just on the floor above the UTAS Prayer Room)

Takbeerat: 8:30 AM
Eid Prayer: 9:00 AM sharp
Date: Saturday, 21 March 2026

✨ Highlights
✔️ Refreshments will be served
✔️ Separate prayer space for sisters will be available
✔️ Ample parking available around the campus

🙏 Request
• Please bring your prayer mat if you have one
• Families are encouraged to bring a plate to share if possible

May Allah accept our ibadah, grant us unity, and bless our community with a joyful and peaceful Eid 🤲
