St Alban's Anglican Church Hamlyn Heights Herne Hill

St Alban's Anglican Church Hamlyn Heights Herne Hill A community of Christian believers in Geelong, Australia committed to biblical teaching and serving the community. Bible. Prayer. Love. Evangelism. Discipleship.

We believe that God speaks, and that it is right for us to listen, through prayerful meditation on God’s word (Hebrews 1:1-14, Joshua 1:8, Psalm 1:2, 119:11). Everything we do is directed by the 66 books of the Bible, God’s word written. We are committed to using the Bible in all aspects of ministry for the transformation of people’s lives (2 Timothy 3:14-17). We believe that God desires intimate

relationships with His people and that he listens and responds to our prayers. We accept that everything we do is dependent on God, we will therefore dedicate ourselves to prayer in all things (Philippians 4:6, John 14:13). God loves us so much he sent his Son to die for us (John 3:16, Romans 5:8, 1 John 4:10). We strive to love God and people sacrificially as Christ loved us (John 15:12-13, Mark 12:29-31). We will reflect Christ’s love in our community for God’s glory (John 13:34-35, Ephesians 5:1-2). Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation and eternal life (John 3:14-18, 14:6). We will passionately tell this good news because it honours Christ (John 5:22-25), it offers salvation to all people (John 3:16), and is obedient to Christ’s instructions (Matthew 28:18-20). The Christian faith involves the ongoing transformation to be more like Jesus Christ (Romans 12:1-2) through the miraculous work of the Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 3:17-18,Galatians 5:22-26), diligent study of the Bible (Psalm 1:2, 119:9,11, James 1:22-25, Hebrews 4:12), committed human effort (Philippians 2:12-13, Hebrews 12:1-3) and united Christian community (Colossians 3:12-16 , Ephesians 4:1-3). We strive to mature as Christians through every stage of life. Eternity. We seek to live in the light of the end and set our hearts on things that are above, not on earthly things (Colossians 3:1-17, Philippians 3:20).

This morning we met together to worship, pray and learn from God's Word. Chris finished the series on the Lord's Prayer which has been enlightening and helped us to not take the words for granted but to apply them to our lives. Today we looked at "Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil". The greatest gift God gives us is Himself. He promises to be with us through difficult situations and to grow us through them. The Kingdom becomes visible as we let God change us and work through us.

This morning we met together and Chris continued the series on the Lord's Prayer. It is challenging to forgive others when we are hurt but without forgiveness our future is controlled by our past. If we delight in the Lord forgiving our sinful nature we can forgive others the things we feel that they have wronged us in. Let's seek to be like Jesus and forgive others.

We met together this morning and Chris continued to teach us from Matthew 6:5-13. Today we looked at "Give us today our daily bread". God is with us in the big and small parts of our life and Jesus often met with people over a meal. We bring what we have to the Lord and He will spend time with us. What a privilege to know that God has given us the Holy Spirit to help us know Him better.

Romans 10:14 NIV
[14] How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
