THE MARRIAGE COURSE
We are running The Marriage Course over 7 Wednesday nights, starting Oct 25. It's designed to be a weekly date-night for married couples. They will enjoy a two-course catered meal, watch a video and have an opportunity for thoughtful private conversation together.

This course is excellent for couples at any stage in their marriage journey. To quote The Guardian Newspaper: "There’s no counselling, no airing of dirty linen in public, no group therapy – and it seems to work." The Marriage Course is based on Christian principles but designed for couples with or without a church background.

Find more information here: https://themarriagecourse.org/try/the-marriage-course
Limited to 12 couples on a pay-what-you-can basis (the course costs about $200 per couple).

A brief Bible devotion to meditate on this Saturday:
Scripture – Psalm 85:8 Let me hear what God the LORD will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints.

Observation - The Psalmist wants to hear the Lord speak. There is a desire on his part to listen to what the Almighty has to say. He’s not afraid of the Lord and his words. If anything, he’s afraid of not hearing the Lord, because he knows what kind of God he is and what he might say: the Lord will speak peace, and the Psalmist wants to hear this divine peace that surpasses all understanding.

Application - Many today don’t believe in the Lord, or are not interested in listening to him, or are afraid of Him and His words. This is the wrong perspective. The Almighty exists, he speaks to us, his words are peace. Therefore, let us be like the psalmist, hear what the Lord is saying and be blessed by Him.

Prayer – Gracious Father, may we share this same desire: the desire to hear you speak, for we know your words will bless us. Even today, give us ears to hear, minds to understand, hearts to believe, wills to obey. Today speak your peace to us through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Need some encouragement and inspiration for reading and hearing God’s voice in the Bible? Why not join us on our Church Bible reading journey? This coming week we are reading Acts 20-24 and Psalm 90-92.

"How is Christianity different to other religions?" as answered by an Artificial Intelligence system called ChatGPT. What do you think of the answer?

Christianity is different from other religions in several ways:

Belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God: Christianity is centered around the belief in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the savior of humanity. This belief is unique to Christianity and sets it apart from other religions.

Emphasis on grace and forgiveness: Christianity places a strong emphasis on the concept of grace and forgiveness. Christians believe that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ and not through good works or adherence to religious laws.

The Trinity: Christianity teaches that God is one being in three persons – the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This concept is known as the Trinity and is not found in other religions.

The Bible: Christianity is based on the Bible, which is considered to be the inspired word of God. While other religions have holy texts, the Bible is unique in its content and teachings.

The role of the church: Christianity places a strong emphasis on the role of the church and the community of believers in the life of a Christian. While other religions may have communal aspects, the Christian church plays a central role in the spiritual life of its adherents.

Overall, Christianity is a unique religion that is distinguished by its emphasis on the person and work of Jesus Christ, the concept of grace and forgiveness, the doctrine of the Trinity, the role of the Bible, and the importance of the church.
