This is the official page of Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Harris Park, Sydney. We regularly post updates regarding Mass times, events, services, and activities related to our Maronite Parish. Our aim is to promote the teachings of the Maronite Church and highlight its events and activities. Please note that this page is not a suitable platform for discussing questions related to theology

, spirituality, or politics. If you have any specific questions regarding the Maronite or Catholic Church in general, we encourage you to contact a priest or attend our Liturgies where you can learn about our faith and receive the Body and Blood of Christ. You can find contact details for our priests on this link: http://www.olol.org.au/about-us/our-priests. There are plenty of Catholic resources available online that can provide you with information about the teachings of the Catholic Church. We also recommend reading the works of the saints, including our Eastern Church Fathers such as St Ephrem or St John Chrysostom. If you can read Arabic, the works of Patriarch Estephan El Doueihi offer valuable teachings about our Maronite Church. Other saints whose works are worth reading include St Theresa of Avila, St Augustine or St Aquinas, and the more recent works of the Venerable Bishop Fulton Sheen. Please note that any posts related to debates about theology or spirituality will not be responded to and may be removed. We reserve the right to remove or block any posts or users who are not in a Catholic spirit or who are trolling.

In this Sunday's gospel passage, โ€˜Jesus rejoiced in the Holy Spiritโ€™ (v21). His source of joy was that his message of good news was being preached, and many were listening and accepting it. Success in oneโ€™s efforts is always a joy!

Jesus came with message of good news. He dedicated his life, to the point of death, to ensure people understood the love, mercy and forgiveness of God. It was a vital message that Jesus wanted to share to enable people to live full lives in hope and love for one another. His work had transformative appeal and was necessary if humanity was to advance in greater self-awareness and positive behaviour. God, through Jesus, so wanted to offer people a hopeful vision of life. God wanted to draw ever nearer to humanity.

So, let's think about the importance of Jesusโ€™ joy in today's Gospel from another angle. What would be the outcome if people did not hear the good news or accept Jesusโ€™ teachings? And there are many that don't or never have had an opportunity to know the riches of the Christian tradition. We read that many, โ€˜Desired to see what you see, but did not see it, and to hear what you hear, but did not hear itโ€™ (v24).

For us, who have accepted Jesus and his teachings in our lives, we are truly blessed. We are open to possibilities of hope and love. We experience grace and enjoy the community of believers. Others do not have a perspective on life that we do, and it is something that is missing.

If Jesusโ€™ teachings really matter, then it is our honour to live them out in our day to day lives, and our obligation to share these blessings with others. Amen.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We have now arrived to the 4th Sunday after Pentecost. This is the longest liturgical season in our Maronite calendar. In this Sunday's readings, the Church invites us to reflect on the gift of divine wisdom and the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.

In the Book of Wisdom, Solomon prays: "I prayed, and understanding was given to me; I called upon God, and the spirit of wisdom came to me" (Wisdom 7:7). He recognises that true wisdom is not something we acquire through our own efforts, but a gift from God.

Saint Paul reminds us that the Holy Spirit dwells within us and reveals the things of God. Through the Holy Spirit, we come to know Christ more deeply and receive the grace to live according to His Gospel.

In the Gospel, Jesus rejoices in the Holy Spirit and praises the Father for revealing the mysteries of the Kingdom to the humble and childlike. The Lord teaches us that openness to God is not a matter of knowledge or status, but of humility and trust.

This week, the work of the ๐Œ๐š๐ซ๐จ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ž ๐’๐ฒ๐ง๐จ๐ in Lebanon concluded. I am grateful for the opportunity to have joined our Patriarch and my brother bishops from around the world in prayer and discussion on matters concerning our Church and our Maronite people. Let us continue praying for our Church that the Holy Spirit may guide us as we seek to respond to the challenges and opportunities before us.

As the month of June progresses, I also wish to remind you of our ๐‹๐ž๐›๐š๐ง๐จ๐ง ๐€๐ข๐ ๐€๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ž๐š๐ฅ, which concludes on 30 June. Through this initiative, containers of essential aid will be sent from Australia to Lebanon to assist families experiencing hardship. I encourage all Maronites in Sydney and Melbourne to continue supporting this important effort through donations of new essential items or financial contributions.

As we continue our journey through the Season of Pentecost, let us ask the Holy Spirit to grant us wisdom so that we bear witness to Christ in our families, workplaces and communities.
