🎶”Lift every voice and sing….!”😲🎶 Nothing lifts your spirits more than full-hearted singing with a big organ backing!

This Sunday 30 August, the combined congregational and choral voices of St Paul’s will be lifted in joyous praise, as we celebrate hymns ancient and modern in a fun “Songs of Praise” format.

The special service will bring together hymn texts and tunes from across the last 500 years, including Lutheran, Anglican, Welsh and Australian hymns. Come and find your voice in our friendly church community - all are welcome!

🗣️🎶Interested in singing at St Paul’s?🎶😲

St Paul’s has choirs for singers of all ages and levels of experience. New members are always welcome.

St Paul’s Choir sings a wide variety of sacred music, from plainsong and Renaissance polyphony to contemporary works, at Choral Eucharists and Choral Evensongs. The choir rehearses on Wednesdays from 6.30–7.30pm. It is not formally auditioned, although previous choral experience and good music-reading and ensemble skills are helpful.

The St Paul’s Singers is an inclusive adult choir which leads the music at the 9.30am Choral Eucharist on the third Sunday of each month. No previous choral experience or ability to read music is required. The choir rehearses on the third Saturday of each month from 10–11am.

St Paul’s Children’s Choirs offer free choral training for children and young people from age six through to the end of high school through three ensembles: Prep Choir, Junior Choir and Youth Choir. Choristers develop vocal technique, musicianship, sight-reading, aural and ensemble skills while learning a variety of uplifting music from the rich Anglican music tradition. The choirs rehearse on Wednesday afternoons during school terms, with supervised play and afternoon tea available from 3.45pm.

Whether you are an experienced chorister, returning to singing after a break, or interested in singing with others for the first time, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Today we marked 87 years since the dedication of St Paul’s Manuka on 6 August 1939. Then, as now, parishioners and clergy braved the cold and inclement weather to mark the occasion. Bishop John Stead led the parish in an act of rededication as a community to strive to minister to the glory of God, and to give faithful witness and loving service to all people. ✝️❤️

The combined forces of our Prep, Children’s, Youth and adult choirs plus trumpets, timpani and organ added depth to our festal Eucharist. 🎶

And we were encouraged by the words of our Rector that “what may seem to be insurmountable challenges can be overcome through common purpose, faith, perseverance, patience, and a commitment to offering to God's glory the best of what we can.”

Thank you to everyone who gave of their best today! 😇🙏🤝

Come, Holy Spirit! 圣灵降临!오소서, 성령님! Viens Saint-Esprit ! Komm, Heiliger Geist! Приди, Святой Дух!…

Just some of the many languages we are hoping to hear next Sunday as we celebrate Pentecost - the day the Holy Spirit 🔥🕊️first descended on the disciples and the “birthday of the Church”!

It will be a particularly joyous occasion as we pray the Holy Spirit accompanies and strengthens those about to be confirmed that day on their Christian journey. Wear something red and join us!

Some lovely images of our church family worshipping this Easter morning, as we gathered before sunrise for the Great Vigil, and later for a Festival Choral Eucharist.

“Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, why are you weeping? For whom are you looking?’ Supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, ‘Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away.’ Jesus said to her, ‘Mary!’ She turned and said to him in Hebrew, ‘Rabbouni!’ (which means Teacher).” —- John 20:15-17

Imagine Mary’s shock of joy when Jesus spoke her name… no wonder she rushed to tell the other disciples “I have seen the Lord!”.

Today we celebrate new life and new hope in Christ. He is risen indeed - alleluia! 🌄✝️🥳
