Dear Parishioners,

The Eparchial Vocations Retreat will be held from 23–25 October at the Mt Carmel Retreat Centre for men discerning a possible vocation to Holy Orders as a subdeacon, deacon, or priest.

If you have wondered whether God may be calling you to serve His Church in this way, this retreat is an opportunity to pray, discern and take the next step.

وفي يومنا هذا مَن يحفظه؟
قد صارت القهوات عِوض الكنائس، صارت الحكايات عوض الكتب المقدسة، الفرجات عوض المذابح الإلهية، الرقص عوض المطّانيات،
وشرب الخمر والسكر في الصيام عوض أخذ جسد الرب ودمه، وعوض سماع كلام الله، بعض الناس يربّحوا الله جميلاً قائلين:
"يا أبونا أنا حضرت قداس وصلّيت". لكن قل لي كيف كنت، في أي قلب؟"

It is a disaster for the soul to not partake of the Holy Mysteries for a long time...
إنها كارثة للنفس التي لا تتناول الأسرار المقدسة لمدة طويلة:
فتبدأ تخرج من النفس رائحة كريهة من الأهواء والخطايا،
والتي تزداد قوتها كلما طالت مدة عدم تناولنا لسر الإفخارستيا المقدّس.

It is a disaster for the soul to not partake of the Holy Mysteries for a long time:
the soul begins to stink of passions and sins, the strength of which increases the longer we do not partake of the Sacrament of Communion.
