A verse for today from my Bible reading this morning -

And the Lord spoke his word to Zechariah again, saying, "This is what the Lord All-Powerful says: 'Do what is right and true. Be kind and merciful to each other.'"
Zechariah 7:8,9 NCV

God give us the grace to do what is right & true, & to show kindness & mercy to the people in our lives, even when it's hard, it costs us in some way, or we think the other person doesn't deserve it, as we trust in your kindness, mercy & self-giving love for us in the life, death & resurrection of Jesus for us when we didn't deserve it either...

He said, “This is the message from the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Your help will not come from your own strength and power. No, your help will come from my Spirit.’ This is what the Lord All-Powerful says."
Zechariah 4:6 ERV

God give us the faith not to trust in our own strength or power to try to control situations, fix things or change people when we face challenges, obstacles, conflicts or uncertainties in our lives, but to rely on the strength & power of his Holy Spirit to help us through the grace & love he extends to us & to others through us in the good news of Jesus' life, death & resurrection for us...

Not easy to follow (for a bunch of reasons) but I believe he teaches the way towards healthier relationships & a more faith-filled witness to the world of God's grace to us in Jesus.

God give us the faith to trust that he will always so what is right, fair & just in all situations, even when it looks like what is wrong, prejudiced or corrupt seems to be winning out, because of the kingdom he established among us through Jesus' life, death & resurrection, so we can join him in doing what is right & fair in our lives, & bringing his life-giving love & his healing truth into the lives of the people around us...

Some good news from the prophet Zephaniah -

"For the Lord your God is living among you.
He is a mighty saviour.
He will take delight in you with gladness.
With his love, he will calm all your fears.
He will rejoice over you with joyful songs."
Zephaniah 3:17 NLT

God give us a strong & enduring faith that God is present with us in all situations, he exercises his saving power in our lives, he delights in us, is glad with us & rejoices over us with songs of joy, all because of his great love for us in the life, death & resurrection of Jesus, so we can find peace & remain calm whenever we face things that might worry us, threaten us, harm us or cause us distress of any kind...

A couple of verses from the conclusion of the prophet Habakkuk -

Even thought the fig trees have no blossoms,
and there are no grapes on the vines;
even though the olive crop fails,
and the fields lie empty and barren;
even though the flocks die in the fields,
and the cattle barns are empty,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord!
I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!
Habakkuk 3:17,18 NLT

Life has been really tough for people on the land in recent years with bad seasons, tough market conditions & a lot of financial pressure.

When everything seems to be going wrong, God give us the faith to trust in the goodness & life-giving love he extends to us in the life, death & resurrection of Jesus, so we can find in him & his promises to us the joy & hope we need to keep on going, & embrace the opportunities & possibilities of each new day... 🙏
