ЧИТАЊА НА ЧЕТВРТАК ТРИНАЕСТИ ПО ПЕДЕСЕТНИЦИ
Браћо, ако је ко увјерен у себе да је Христов, нека опет помисли у себи да, као што је он Христов, тако смо и ми Христови. 8. Јер ако бих се нешто више похвалио влашћу нашом коју нам даде Господ за назидавање, а не за кварење ваше, нећу се постидјети, 9. да се не покажем као да вас плашим посланицама. 10. Јер су му посланице, вели, тешке и јаке, а кад је тијелом присутан слаб је, и ријеч му је ништавна. 11. Нека такав помисли ово: какви смо ријечју у посланицама када смо одсутни, такви смо и дјелом кад смо присутни. 12. Јер не смијемо себе убрајати или сравњивати са некима који сами себе хвале: али они кад сами себе собом мјере, и сами себе са собом пореде, неразумни су. 13. А ми се нећемо хвалити преко мјере, него по мери правила чију нам мјеру Бог додијели, да достигнемо и до вас. 14. Јер се ми не простиремо преко мјере, као да не досежемо до вас, него и до вас достигосмо с јеванђељем Христовим. 15. Не хвалимо се преко мјере у туђим трудовима, али имамо наду да ћемо се, кад узрасте вјера ваша, с вама величати по правилу нашему изобилно. 16. Да и у даљим крајевима од вас проповиједамо јеванђеље, и да се не похвалимо оним што је по туђему правилу урађено. 17. А који се хвали, Господом нека се хвали! 18. Јер није ваљан онај који се сам хвали, него којега Господ хвали.

Рече Господ: Заиста вам кажем: Сви гријеси опростиће се синовима човјечијим, и хуљења на Бога, ма колико хулили: 29. А који похули на Духа Светога нема опроштења ва вијек, него је крив вјечноме суду. 30. Јер говораху: У њему је дух нечисти. 31. И дођоше мати његова и браћа његова, и стојећи напољу послаше к њему да га зову. 32. И сјеђаше народ око њега. И рекоше му: Ено мати твоја и браћа твоја напољу траже те. 33. И одговори им говорећи: Ко је мати моја или браћа моја? 34. И погледавши около на оне који сједе око њега, рече: Ево мати моја и браћа моја! 35. Јер ко изврши вољу Божију онај је брат мој и сестра моја и мати моја.

А који похули на Духа Светога нема опроштења вавек (Мк.3, 29). Да ли је тешко упасти у такав грех? Уопште није тешко. Ево грехова те врсте: „Велика и безмерна нада на благодат Божију; очајање или ненадање на Божију милост; противречење очигледној и утврђеној истини и одбацивање Православне хришћанске вере. Други томе додају завист према духовним даровима које ближњи добијају од Бога; упоритост у греху и истрајност у злоби; небригу за покајање све до одласка из овог живота“ (Правосл. испов. део 3. пит. 38). Ето, колико путева! Пођеш ли којим од њих, биће ти тешко да се вратиш и бићеш одведен до свепогубне пропасти. Противљење истини почиње са малим сумњама, које бивају побуђиване рђавом речју или књигом. Ако се оставе без пажње или лечења, оне ће одвести ка неверју и упорности у њему. До очајања се такође долази неприметно: „Покајаћу се“, говоре и настављају да греше. Поступајући тако неколико пута и видевши да покајање не долази, они говоре у себи: „Тако мора да буде! Не можеш против самог себе“, и већ се предају греху у пуну власт. Тако скупљају мноштво грехова, а при томе допуштају и мноштво противљења очигледним позивима Божије благодати. Када у таквом стању човек дође до мисли да се покаје, мноштво грехова га дави, а противљење благодати му одузима смелост да припадне Господу. И он решава: Велики је мој грех, да би ми се опростио. То баш и јесте очајање! Чувај се почетка неверја и грехољубља и нећеш упасти у тај бездан.

READINGS FOR THURSDAY OF THE THIRTEENTH WEEK AFTER PENTECOST
Brethren, if anyone is convinced in himself that he belongs to Christ, let him consider this again within himself: that just as he belongs to Christ, so also do we belong to Christ.
8. For even if I should boast somewhat more concerning our authority, which the Lord gave us for your edification and not for your destruction, I shall not be ashamed,
9. lest I seem as though I wished to frighten you by my letters.
10. For, they say, “His letters are weighty and powerful, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech is contemptible.”
11. Let such a person consider this: what we are in word through our letters when we are absent, so we shall also be in deed when we are present.
12. For we dare not count ourselves among, or compare ourselves with, some who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves and comparing themselves among themselves, are without understanding.
13. We, however, shall not boast beyond measure, but according to the measure of the rule which God has appointed for us—a measure that reaches even unto you.
14. For we are not overextending ourselves, as though we had not reached you, since we were the first to come even unto you with the Gospel of Christ.
15. We do not boast beyond measure in the labours of others, but we have hope that, as your faith increases, we shall be greatly enlarged among you according to our rule,
16. so that we may preach the Gospel in the regions beyond you, and not boast in work already accomplished within another man’s appointed field.
17. But he who boasts, let him boast in the Lord!
18. For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.

The Lord said: “Truly, I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter;
29. but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit shall never have forgiveness, but is guilty of eternal judgment”—
30. because they said, “He has an unclean spirit.”
31. Then His mother and His brothers came, and standing outside, they sent word to Him and called Him.
32. And the multitude sat around Him. And they said to Him, “Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are outside looking for You.”
33. But He answered them, saying, “Who is My mother, or My brothers?”
34. And looking around at those who sat around Him, He said, “Behold My mother and My brothers!
35. For whoever does the will of God is My brother, My sister and My mother.”

Saint Theophan the Recluse
“But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit shall never have forgiveness.”
(Mark 3:29)
Is it difficult to fall into such a sin? It is not difficult at all.
These are sins of this kind: “Great and boundless presumption upon the grace of God; despair, or the loss of hope in God’s mercy; opposition to an evident and established truth; and rejection of the Orthodox Christian faith.
Others also include envy of the spiritual gifts that one’s neighbour receives from God; stubbornness in sin and persistence in malice; and neglecting repentance until one’s departure from this life.”
(Orthodox Confession, Part 3, Question 38)
See how many paths there are! If you begin walking along any one of them, it will become difficult to turn back, and you may be led into utter destruction.
Resistance to the truth begins with small doubts, which may be stirred up by an evil word or a harmful book. If these doubts are left unattended or untreated, they can lead a person into unbelief and stubborn persistence in it.
A person can also fall into despair almost unnoticed. People say, “I will repent,” yet they continue sinning. After doing this several times and seeing that repentance does not come, they say to themselves, “This is simply how it must be! You cannot struggle against your own nature,” and then they surrender themselves completely to the power of sin.
In this way, they accumulate a multitude of sins while also repeatedly resisting the clear invitations of God’s grace.
When a person in such a state finally begins to think about repentance, the multitude of sins weighs heavily upon him, while his resistance to grace deprives him of the courage to fall down before the Lord.
Then he decides: “My sin is too great to be forgiven.”
This is precisely what despair is!
Guard yourself against the beginnings of unbelief and the love of sin, and you will not fall into this abyss.
