Announcing the latest in our line up of poets tonight at the Scarred Tree Poetry & Book Launch: Phuong Barraclough is an Australian-Vietnamese emerging writer, mixed-media artist, a survivor of corporate-world politics and a lover of all things community.

She now spends her days curating her dream life—physically lost in nature, emotionally lost in romantasy—whilst recovering from more than 40 years of FDV and abuse.

Join us tonight 6.30pm at St John’s church manse Glebe!

Today was a blessed day as a cope (Bishops cape) commissioned by the Church of England to highlight the tragedy of the Stolen Generations was presented to First Nations community members at Adelaide Cathedral. Uncle Raymond Minniecon and Larissa Minniecon were among the representatives. It was created by Terry Duffy to be a reminder to us all of this dark chapter and keep compelling the whole community toward Restoration.

It’s a wonderful initiative! We hope that the cope will travel around the country. Pray with us that the cope will touch the hearts of many.

Tomorrow (Saturday) 4pm Gavin Hanbridge kicks off our monthly discussion. This time, we look at the Book of Job and its similarities with Indigenous experience of loss of children, livelihood and health. Bring a plate and join us for this thought-provoking and compelling chat.

Featured at our upcoming Poetry Night, Fri. 11th Sept. at Scarred Tree Indigenous Ministries,
Gavin Hanbridge is a spoken word poet exploring place, memory & the inner lives of men.
Through storytelling, he reveals the places that stay with us, the memories that shape us,
& the things men struggle to say.

🌏 While Pastor Ray Minniecon is in Canada this week attending the NAIITS Symposium, exploring this year’s thought-provoking theme, “How to Be a Good Ancestor?”, we’re excited to keep the conversation going here at home!

Pastor Ray will be back with us next week, but today we’re delighted that his daughter, Larissa Minniecon, will be sharing her reflections as we commemorate National Reconciliation Week.

🔥 Join us at 4:00pm at the Scarred Tree for an afternoon of storytelling, reflection, a warm fire, and pot-luck food. Bring a plate to share and come be part of the conversation.

Everyone is welcome!
