Family Life International - Australia

Family Life International - Australia Like the Church, FLI places great value on the sanctity of human life.

We are a pro-life, pro-family organisation of Christ's lay faithful fully adhering to the teaching of the Catholic Church and providing educational resources to that end and support for mothers in a crisis pregnancy. FLI is a national public company that adheres to and advances the teachings of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church in promoting the Culture of Life, drawing its support from a cros

s-section of Australian society, in particular, Catholics and other Christians. FLI is an organisation of lay Catholics under the patronage of The Very Reverend Julian Porteous, Archbishop of Tasmania.

We need your assistance in 2 ways; Firstly for your generous financial support which I explained last week by the following statement:

We were very heartened by your response to the recent appeal which told us how important it is to you that we maintain FLI as a going concern. In order to be effective we also need to be a growing concern. As the great pro-life champion and founder of Human Life International, Father Paul Marx OSB would say; “Money is not the problem, money is the solution!” Please keep us in your prayers and where possible help us with your donations to assist us in building FLI into a more effective force in the battle for Life, Faith and Family. See below for bank account details and payment methods.

Secondly as explained in the following:

Nearly two and a half years ago we published the following article as an open letter to the Australian Catholic Bishops. Nearly six and a half years ago we published an article exposing a permission given to Australian Catholics to join freemasonic organisations by the then General Secretary of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference (ACBC) Father Stephen Hackett, in a reply to the Grand Master of the South Australian and Northern Territory Lodge, Mr Stephen Michalak who had written asking for clarification on the matter. Mr Michalak identified himself as a practicing Catholic. We have published numerous articles on this issue and exposing many of the immoral "laws” introduced by this country’s Parliaments with the collaboration of Freemasonry. All can be found on our website.

Given the absolute prohibition by the Catholic Church on Catholics being freemasons and the penalties which apply for such membership, which was spelled out by then Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, as head of the Congregation for Doctrine of the Faith (CDF) in 1983 and reinforced by Cardinal Victor Manuel Fernandez as head of the renamed Dicastery for Doctrine of the Faith (DDF) in 2023 and authorised by Pope Francis, we naively thought it would be a relatively simple matter, to have our Bishops correct that erroneous advice from Fr Hackett which was made public by the Freemasons circulating the said letter on their social media pages. We wrote to the President of the ACBC Archbishop Timothy Costelloe and copied all the Bishops of the ACBC into that correspondence asking for a correction. This was met with a curt response via email from the new General Secretary Fr Chris De Souza and then with silence.

Rather than approaching Rome directly, we felt it would be more constructive to pursue a diplomatic path that might encourage a positive outcome. To this end, we arranged for a well qualified theologian to prepare very prudent, articulate and diplomatic statement on this matter to discussed by the Australian Catholics Bishops Conference. Since that permission for membership in freemasonry was given on ACBC letterhead and in what appears to be an “official” statement and that penalties for such membership prohibit the reception of Holy Communion we hope and pray that given the seriousness of the matter, the Australian Bishops will issue a statement that reaffirms the Church’s established position regarding such membership and its implications for the reception of Holy Communion.

I’m asking our supporters to refresh your understanding of this matter by rereading the article found at the following link and include this in your prayers.

16th January 2024 An Open Letter from Family Life International to Australia’s Catholic Bishops Your Excellencies, In a document dated 13 November 2023, the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith has reaffirmed the incompatibility between Catholicism and Freemasonry and has reiterated the Church....

We were very heartened by your response to the recent appeal which told us how important it is to you that we maintain FLI as a going concern. This week we feature 2 videos of talks from our Conference in Albury NSW back in 2012. Fr Thomas Brancik; “The Real Presence conquers the demonic presence” and the great pro-life champion of happy memory, Monsignor Philip Reilly; “Be not afraid to proclaim the Gospel of Life with honesty and love.” Those who know me well, also understand, that for my entire career in the pro-life, pro-family apostolate, I have maintained that if we are to overcome the evil of abortion and all other evils, we will only do so through Almighty God. We cannot hope to overcome this evil through secular means even if we mount the best philosophical, scientific and rational arguments. This is because abortion and all evil comes from the demonic influence in our world. Only with God will we overcome the satanic.

These 2 videos address this issue extremely well and I commend them to you. Please spend the time and consider them well. Today there are many who have gained popularity and who maintain that we need to leave God and religion out of the debate. This is a sure path to failure. Please support us in our efforts to promote the Gospel of Life and overcome these evils through Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Blessed Mary ever Virgin.

Rev Dr Thomas Brancik

This E-news features an article that was given as a homily by Father Pius Mary Noonan OSB last Sunday with a view towards the Feast of the Ascension of the Lord tomorrow. We have published many articles/homilies of Father Pius’ and they are always an inspiration and are very educational. The following called “Hide and Seek” is no different.

Father uses the apparition of Our Lord to the Disciples on the road to Emmaus as a catechetical model for us today in our relationship with the Lord. The quotes from St John of God later in the article serve to remind us of both our dependance on God and our need to grow in virtue. "St John of the Cross writes: ‘Because the role of faith, hope and charity is to withdraw the soul from all that is less than God, consequently they unite her with God’ (Dark Night of the Soul).”

We hope you enjoy this article and that is of great benefit to you.

Please note: We were very heartened by your response to the recent appeal which told us how important it is to you that we maintain FLI as a going concern. In order to be effective we also need to be a growing concern. Lately there has been much public discussion on the licitness/appropriateness of incremental Bills on moral matters, being put before Australian Parliaments, especially on abortion. We recently saw a debate held between 2 parties taking opposite sides on that issue with one arguing that its the only way to get any “pro-life” legislation through and the other saying only the complete abolition of abortion is moral. To add some clarity for our supporters and anyone else of goodwill, we are publishing this article from our friend Michael Baker in 2003, which was taken from a talk he gave on our behalf a couple of years earlier.

That’s right, you read the date correctly. In fact this has been a bone of contention amongst pro-life groups for 30 years now. This article gives the Catholic moral perspective and the title comes from a section of Pope Saint John Paul II’s Encyclical “Evangelium Vitae” which was promulgated in 1995. Michael gives a very good explanation of why such incremental legislation is wrong, that is, unless it is worded very carefully. My opinion then and still is, that it remains an imprudent action at best even if his course is followed.

This article is longer than usual and needs to be to cover it comprehensively. I hope you find it interesting and persuasive and I invite feedback for anyone so inclined. If you wish to discuss this further I would also welcome your calls. There will be more forthcoming on this issue from us in the near future.

Thank you again to all who supported our appeal which was very successful. We still need ongoing support to maintain our mission and continue the projects and campaigns we are committed to, so if you are able to assist at all on an ongoing basis, we pray that you will do so. Maybe you can afford $20 per week? That equates to around $85 per month. That works out at a little over $1000 per year and if we had 1,000 people in all of Australia who can afford that, we would be raising $1 million per year! We could do so much more if we can achieve that goal! See below for payment details.

This week we republish another great article from Population Research Institute. We are an affiliate of PRI. This article addresses the hypocrisy of the left wing “overpopulation” crowd who have been arguing for restrictions on population for decades. Their favourite methods for reducing numbers are abortion, contraception and euthanasia principally but also incline them to push homos*xuality and gender dysphoria as such disorders involve sterile s*x. Now that they’ve all jumped on the bandwagon of immigration they are proclaiming it, whether legal or illegal, as a solution to the problem of falling and ageing populations! Reminds me of the line from Doc Holiday in the movie Tombstone; “my hypocrisy knows no bounds.”

Monsignor Reilly built a network of "prayerful, loving presence" around the world and the most effective pro-life groups around the world are those influenced by him and his philosophy. That includes by the way, 40 Days for Life. He was the most inspirational pro-life warrior around the world and had real Charity for all. May he rest in peace.

The following is what some pro life groups are missing. They dialogue with the escorts, shout, and argue but meanwhile if they maintained a prayerful presence they would be more effective. Msgr. Philip J. Reilly was ALWAYS about maintaining a prayerful presence. We had walkie talkies and prayed the Rosary the entire time while others did sidewalk counseling. VERY EFFECTIVE. It also helps having a Saint with you in Msgr!

"We pray to obtain God's mercy for the abortionist and his staff who do the killing. The message of the Helpers of God's Precious Infants to the abortionist and all who help him to kill God's children is that, though we love them, we will never accept what they do."

Thank you again to all who supported our appeal which was very successful. We in fact exceeded our stated goal which was immensely pleasing. We still need ongoing support to maintain our mission and continue the projects and campaigns we are committed to, so if you are able to assist at all on an ongoing basis, we pray that you will do so. Maybe you can afford $20 per week? That works out at a little over $1000 per year and if we had 1,000 people in all of Australia who can afford that, we would be raising $1 million per year! We have an article from Archbishop Julian Porteous this week titled "the Importance of Motherhood.” It strikes me as very sad and very telling about the state of modern society, that there even needs to be articles and discussions on such an obvious fact. However we most surely do and the good Archbishop has done a great job at addressing this in a short article.

As we approach ANZAC Day this weekend and engage in remembrance activities, let us not forget to pray for our fallen heroes who gave their lives that we might live in a free and prosperous society. Let us also work and engage in activities that will ensure a return to such a way of life, to do honour to the sacrifice they made.

God bless you all.

The update on our urgent appeal from last week where thus far, thanks to some very generous supporters, we had received almost 75% of our stated needs (up from 60% the previous week) and still required your help to raise the extra $15,000. Well this week I am happy to report we reached our goal and in fact exceeded it raising about 110% of what we needed. Despite the times being tough economically for everyone, many of you dug deep to support the ongoing mission of Family Life International Australia and we are extremely grateful and humbled by your response. Thank you to all who contributed, whatever the amount you gave was, we know it was a sacrifice and we appreciate that, along with your prayers, very much. We ask you to continue your support for our mission to ensure we don’t have to find ourselves in a similar position later this year.

This week we have Part 2 of the report from the Population Research Institute (PRI) "of the series on the international spread of these deadly drugs” written by Chiara McKenna (Steve and Vera Mosher’s youngest daughter). Many are unaware of the holocaust being run against the unborn child via “medical abortion” all aimed at population reduction to “save the planet!” This deadly genocide, especially in third world countries, is being paid for by tax payers in the western world, including here in Australia.
