The Australian Catholic Bishops Conference has commissioned a survey through the Parish and Marriage Resource Centre (PMRC) of the experiences of couples who married in the last 10 years where at least one spouse is Catholic.

The information gathered will help to form an evidence base for pastoral supports and resources for this vital period of the marriage journey.

Couples in their first 10 years of marriage can contribute their valuable insights by completing the short survey.

All answers are anonymous and confidential, and participants can get in touch with the researchers directly if they have any questions about the survey.

We invite Our Lady Star of the Sea parishioners - men, women and families - to join a Mary's Mantle Consecration Retreat. Hosted by Women of Worth, our 46-day journey will begin on Wednesday 7th October. The retreat includes:
● A 2-minute daily reading and meditation on a particular virtue or gift for that day
● A daily Rosary. That day’s Rosary will be for a particular person in the group who is fasting and their personal intentions and for our parish
● Fasting on the day that is allocated to you
● Weekly inspirational videos.

On Saturday 21st November we will celebrate the feast day of Our Lady’s Presentation with Reconciliation and Adoration at SOS Church followed by a group prayer of consecration to Our Lady and a shared supper.

Eucharist28 Update – Walking with Christ

The International Eucharistic Congress in Sydney in 2028 (‘Eucharist28’) will be a global gathering of the Church centred on the Eucharist, the source and summit of our Christian lives. It will be a celebration of faith, rich with worship, prayer, testimonies, art, music, culminating in a Papal Mass with Pope Leo XIV. It will be an important moment of Eucharistic renewal for the Church in Australia and beyond. The journey to Eucharist28 has begun!

Our lives this side of heaven are a continuous journey of walking with Christ. We are called to walk alongside Him during our trials and our triumphs. In Micah 6:8, scripture tells us, "And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."

This journey of walking with Christ is interior, but it can also be expressed physically. We can become pilgrims by walking and prayerfully moving with Him, including through processions.
In 2028, the global church that gathers in Sydney for Eucharist28 will have an opportunity to be pilgrims by participating in the Eucharistic Procession. This journey through the streets of Sydney will be a witness to our nation and our world, as tens of thousands of pilgrims walk alongside Jesus Christ, truly present in the Eucharist.

In the years leading up to this moment and beyond, the prayer of Eucharist28 is that across Australia, Eucharistic renewal will continue to flourish, and Eucharistic processions and pilgrimages will become a commonplace way for all to walk with Christ in their lives.

To celebrate our parish feast day, The Most Holy Name of Mary, a Votive Mass of the Most Holy Name of Mary will celebrated at Star of the Sea Church, 9am Friday 11th September.

This will also be an opportunity for Star of the Sea Catholic Primary School Gladstone staff and students to celebrate their school feast day with Mass as an important and vibrant part of the parish.

PARISH TRIVIA NIGHT
Support our youth group

Come along to our Parish Trivia Night on Friday 9th October at St Francis School Hall.

Tickets are $15 per person with tables of 10. Enjoy prizes, raffles, a pot-luck dinner and lots of fun! BYO alcohol.

Tickets are available from the parish office and St Francis Admin.

We're also seeking donations for our raffle. If you own a business or know of a local business willing to donate, please contact the Parish Office. We'd love to support and promote our local parish businesses on the night.

Our month parish Men's Night is the Annual Smokehouse Night at St Patrick's Church, Calliope this Saturday, 5th September.

This is opportunity to meet new men from across the communities of Gladstone, Tannum Sands, Calliope, Mt Larcom, Ubobo, Miriam Vale and Agnes Water.

A prayerful evening of food, fellowship and conversation.

For October, all men are invited to attend, support and promote the Parish Quiz Night on Friday 9th October at St Francis Catholic Primary School Tannum Sands. This will be a fundraiser for the parish youth ministry.
