Yesterday a group of us got together to make some beautiful lanterns. It was so much fun, we all were able to learn some new crafty ideas, enjoy each others company and share some snacks together. We all love our little lanterns can't wait to use them 🌟🤍

[Meet the members here in Gladstone]

Hi we're the Salcedo family! We came here to Gladstone from the Philippines 8 years ago for my husbands work so we could all be togther as a family. We've been here in Gladstone ever since!

My husband was first here working but it was really important for us to be united as a family so me and the two boys came shortly after. We also came so we could have a better life, safety, and opportunities for our family.

We are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints here in Gladstone.

Being a member has blessed our family so much. We can't even imagine where we would be without this gospel. We can truly can see the bigger picture. We have found so much comfort and purpose. Having a knowledge of Jesus Christ and His gospel gives us a larger perspective. In the trials and challenges we face the the people at church have always been there to help. We feel so loved and supported by each other. Being a member of this church has also helped when we've had questions and sought answers. Knowing and coming closer to God has brought more peace into our life and always gives us the strength we need to get through anything. We love the community we feel here and all the activities that we're able to go to as a family.

At church today the younger children had the opportunity to be out in nature. They were asked to look at the beauty all around them and to take notice of what they love about Heavenly Fathers creations. We were able to capture some of these moments.

Psalm 33: 5
"5 He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord."

Sometimes we just need to take a moment to ponder on all we have been given, there is beauty all around.

We may all have different backgrounds, situations and experiences, but there is a connection we all have and that is love. We can serve and support one another no matter our differences.

When has love motivated you to do for someone?

A weekend well spent; on Saturday we had a BBQ and mini Olympics activity. It was so much fun, we all came together to share some food, laughs and great memories. Even the adults couldn't help themselves joining in tug of war and tunnel ball.

What's your favourite memory with family or friends?

How do you express love for others and show you care?

On Saturday a few of the women at church came together and learnt how to do marble mugs. We were patiently instructed by the lovely Siahn, who shared her artistic talents and allowed us to be creative and to design our own beautiful and unique mugs.

"We had so much fun just talking, learning new skills, being creative and even shared a delicious meal together"

We can always share the talents we have been given and find joy in being together.

"I find joy in knowing who I am, that I am a beloved daughter of God... the creator of all things and he knows me personally."

I know that the knowledge of who I am and who I can become has brought so much meaning to my life. With it comes a Joy that can be found nowhere else. Knowing I can change and that each day God helps me to be better, that He is moulding me into more than I could ever be on my own. That he has a great work and purpose for me!! As I allow him to help me be more patient, loving and strong, my ability to help others also grows. As a missionary, I get to bring this knowledge into others lives. I get to experience a small amount of the love he has for them. There is nothing quite like seeing someone experience the same JOY I have found in God.

I know that the Joy we all seek comes from God, from His son Jesus Christ and allowing them into our lives. As we ourselves emulate His light and experience this Joy we have a greater chance to help others along the way.

Alma 26: 11
"But Ammon said unto him: I do not boast in my own strength, nor in my own wisdom; but behold, my joy is full, yea, my heart is brim with joy, and I will rejoice in my God."
