St Francis Xavier Cathedral Geraldton A landmark building of international importance, the story of this fabulous twentieth century cathedral is of great interest to all who visit it.

The Cathedral is open daily from 7 a.m.- 5 p.m. and tours are conducted 4 times a week. The Catholic Diocese of Geraldton has recently undertaken a major project to restore, conserve and enhance the iconic, heritage listed St Francis Xavier Cathedral and its precinct. In addition to the Cathedral works, the Project included the building of the Monsignor Hawes Heritage Centre which houses a Cafe

and Interpretive Centre dedicated to Monsignor John Hawes, and a Garden of Remembrance which includes a Columbarium. The Cathedral was re-dedicated and re-opened in November 2017 and is once again the principal place of worship in the Diocese of Geraldton and has become a major draw card for tourists visiting Geraldton from all over the world. In November 2019, a Carillon of 27 Bells was installed and blessed. This is the largest Carillon in any church in Australia. For more information go to www.monsignorhawes.com
