🌺🇼🇸Samoan Outreach Fundraising Group: Salesian Mission in Action🇼🇸❤️

Having successfully accomplished the intentions of a truly unforgettable mission to young people of Salesian schools, the group feel deeply privileged, humbled and blessed to have represented the Ss Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Gawler parish. Experiencing the warmth, love and generosity of the communities in Samoa, they feel unanimously that they are leaving with far more than they arrived with, beautiful memories that will remain in their hearts for many years to come. A lot of fun and laughter was had along the way 🙏

🌺🇼🇸Samoan Outreach Fundraising Group: Salesian Mission in Action🇼🇸❤️
Day 8: Sunday 12 July
With school visits complete, the group gathered for a final mass at Fr. Sefo's home parish in Malotau on the western side of the main island. The Liturgy and choir could be heard loud and clear through the newly installed sound system donated by our fundraising efforts. Fr. Sefo was baptised, received the sacraments of confirmation and reconciliation, and celebrated his first mass at this church. With pride and profound gratitude he acknowledged the parish and community for their guidance and support in his journey to becoming the priest he is today.
Fellowship, lunch and dancing followed with Fr. Sefo's family and parish community, where the group was welcomed and honored with an Ava (Kava) Ceremony, a cultural ritual usually reserved for rare occasions and often for royalty.

Samoa Outreach Fundraising Group: Salesian Mission in Action Day 6: Friday 10 July The group experienced a heartwarming visit to Father Sefo's parents' house in Malotau on the north western side of the main island, where his brother Paulo and sister Rosalia currently reside. From there, a short yet breathtaking boat trip unfolded over to the picturesque island of Manono, the ancestral home of his family, where some of his cousins still dwell. It was a profound privilege to pay respects at the sacred burial site of Father Sefo's grandfather and great-grandfather. The extraordinary Samoan hospitality continued to shine through with sumptuous feasts graciously served by family on the island and back at Malotau. The profound impact of our Samoan and Gawler community connection shone brightly as we met Father Sefo's great nephew, Peter Paul.

Samoa Outreach Fundraising Group : Salesian Mission in Action
Day 4: Wednesday 8 July
Visited the final 2 Salesian schools, located on the western Samoan island of Savai’i.
* Don Bosco College & Vocational Centre, Salelologa
* St John Bosco Primary School, Palauti
Large screen TVs, laptops, educational supplies, requested crucifix and Virgin Mary statues were presented and received with appreciation and gratitude.
Each of the six schools welcomed us with warmth and showered the group with an abundance of unexpected gifts representing Samoan culture.

Visited 3 schools.
1. Divine Mercy School, Malololelei;
2. Don Bosco Technical College, Alafua; and
3. St Joseph School, Leauva'a. All these schools are located near Apia in the Island of Upolo.
