Almighty God, we come before you in disbelief and shock about the attack on Helen Haines, Member of Federal Parliament for Indi in our state. We pray for her as she receives urgent treatment in the Alfred Hospital. We pray for medical professionals who have charge of her recovery, and for your continued protection of her and her family at this time. We ask for peace in our communities, respect in political discourse, and kindness in our interactions with one another. This we pray in the name of Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord. Amen.

An excerpt from an address given last night at Choral Evensong by Dr Graeme Morton AM, Director of Music at St John's Cathedral, and faculty member at The University of Queensland's School of Music. His address was in our sermon series on "spirituality and music": it was a delightful and inspiring gift.

Guy Fawkes Night is Thursday 5 November. Here at Holy Trinity we begin the evening's celebration with 6.30pm Evensong (1662 Book of Common Prayer with the Gunpowder Propers) followed by the burning of an effigy of Guy Fawkes, followed by a sausage sizzle (with veg options) with lashings of Houses of Parliament Sauce, English b**r, and soft drinks all enjoyed around the fire.
Family-friendly. Children welcome.

The Trinity Centre Pantry assists people in need with food parcels, emergency relief for overdue essential bills, and a weekly free nutritious cooked meal.

By the end of the year, we expect to spend over $20,000 on groceries for food parcels and over $45,000 on payments of overdue bills, for the benefit of those who visit us.

We are immensely thankful to the Lord Mayor's Charitable Trust for having granted the Trinity Centre Pantry $16,300 for groceries, enabling the heavy demands placed by the cost of living on people who are doing it tough to be eased.

SEEKING SECTION PRINCIPAL SINGERS (paid positions)

Can you provide musical leadership within the Trinity Choir to support the continued growth and development of our music program?

Up to 23 musicians comprise the Trinity Choir, one of the largest church choirs in Brisbane, led by Dominic Fitzgerald, Director of Music, and John Rotar, Assistant Director of Music.

Principal Singers lead their own voice part as well as provide musical leadership that enables the Trinity Choir to perform with confidence, security, and excellence. They work with the Director of Music to foster a culture of excellence, consistency, and encouragement within the ensemble.

There is a weekly Sung Mass on Sunday at 9:30am (rehearsal: 8:15am); a monthly service of Choral Evensong on the third Sunday of each month at 6pm (rehearsal: 4:45pm); and a weekly rehearsal on Tuesdays, 6:45pm-9pm. The Trinity Choir is in recess from after the Christmas Day service until essentially the end of January.

There are additional special services during the year, and occasional weeks off.

The position is a voluntary one; however, there is remuneration of $9,000 pa to encourage excellence in musical leadership (paid quarterly in arrears).
