Isaiah 50:4-9a; Psalm 1181-2, 19-29; Philippians 2:5-11; Matthew 21:1-11
Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord. Crowds cheered when you came to
Jerusalem; you came to bring peace, but the civil authorities did not welcome you. Jesus, we pray for your world: for peace that brings an end to violence, oppression and war; for peace that enables all people to live with dignity and justice; for world leaders and for all who commit their lives to the work of peace.
Jesus, Son of David, let us follow in your way;
let us walk with you to Jerusalem.

Anglicans from across the globe have arrived in Canterbury to celebrate the Installation of the Archbishop of Canterbury. It's been so good to catch up with colleagues and friends, new and old, in an atmosphere of so much joy.

Fifth Sunday after Epiphany Year A
Isaiah 58:1-9a; Psalm 112; 1 Corinthians 2:1-13; Matthew 5:13-20
Put a right heart within us, O God; hear us and answer when we call on you. God of all justice, you desire of your people righteousness and truth: hear us when we pray for the peoples of the world. We pray for all who are exploited and oppressed, those whose land and livelihood have been taken away. Put a right heart within us, that we may work to bring freedom to the oppressed, release to the captive, dignity and justice to all your people.
God of all mercy,
hear our prayer.

Fourth Sunday after Epiphany Year A
Micah 6:1-8; Psalm 15; 1 Corinthians 1:18-31; Matthew 5:1-12
Jesus, you have taught us how we should live and how we should pray: receive the prayers we offer. You taught us: ‘Blessed are the peacemakers’, but too often the aggressors flourish. We pray for all people in places of danger and conflict; for the leaders of nations and all who work for peace.
Challenge our values again, Jesus, and in your mercy,
hear our prayer.
