💧 Families in Malawi continue to face challenges with access to clean water, sanitation, and food insecurity. Through a holistic project led by Chiimba Church of the Nazarene, communities are seeing meaningful change through improved water access, hygiene education, and agricultural support. In the first quarter of 2026 alone, the project served approximately 3,600 people.
🧼 The project’s borehole well continues to provide clean, safe water for families in the community, supported by a trained local water point committee that monitors maintenance and helps keep the well functioning. At the same time, WASH (water access, sanitation, and hygiene) educators are actively teaching families about handwashing, safe water storage, sanitation, and disease prevention through household visits and community gatherings. As these efforts continue, progress in sanitation is growing rapidly. A total of 120 household latrines have now been constructed, up from 75 reported at the end of last year.
🌱 The project is also helping young people build greater food security and hope for the future through agriculture training and irrigation support. During this quarter, 32 youth farmers harvested maize, beans, and vegetables, helping provide food for their households and income for school fees.
💙 One young participant, Owen, shared how the harvest allowed him to pay his tuition for the first time. “I am excited that I was able to pay my own school fees after selling the sweet beans that we planted,” he said.
