The Antiochian Welfare Association (AWA) and in conjunction with Catholic Care will be holding a “Tuning into Teens Parenting Program” online course.

Tuning in to Teens is a structured online parenting program that helps parents and caregivers understand, communicate with, and support their teenagers’ emotional development.

Catholic Care is supporting AWA and our community in delivering the Tuning into Teens Program. Catholic Care have expertise in delivering this program in a compassionate and supportive manner. Catholic Care has many years of experience in delivering this program to people of faith and undertaking parents and their challenges in raising teenagers. The Tuning into Teens will assist parents with strategies and ideas to support their children and also how to communicate with them in a meaningful way. The Catholic Care facilitator is a trained facilitator and has many years supporting parents though challenging times with their children. The Program will be facilitated in a professional and confidential manner

OVERVIEW OF THE PROGRAM
Tuning in to Teens (TINT) is designed for parents and caregivers of children aged 9–18 years to help them navigate the emotional and social challenges of adolescence. The program focuses on enhancing emotional intelligence, improving communication, and reducing conflict within the family. It provides practical tools to help parents manage their own emotions while supporting their teen’s emotional growth.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE
Every Tuesday evening 6:30pm to 8:30pm, beginning 28th July to 1st September, 2026. Sessions will be online via Zoom. Those who register for the program must attend all six session to gain benefit from the program. as the program is online this hopefully will make it accessible for parents to commit to the program and benefit from tools and parenting resources.

PRACTICAL OUTCOMES
Parents who complete the program often report feeling more confident in managing their relationship with their teen, better equipped to handle emotional outbursts, and capable of fostering a positive, supportive home environment. The program also emphasizes modeling healthy behaviour, which helps teens develop strong emotional skills and resilience. All participants will also receive a Tuning into Teens workbook/resource.

Cost:
Catholic Care is charging AWA for the delivery of this program - so AWA is asking participants for a donation to do this parenting program.

On Saturday November 15, we begin the forty-day Nativity Fast in preparation for the Great Feast of the Nativity of Christ on December 25. Throughout this period, we abstain from meat, poultry, eggs and dairy. According to the directions issued by the Patriarchate of Antioch, it is not necessary to abstain from oil, but we are free to do so if we choose to.

From November 15 to December 11, fish, w**e and oil are allowed every day, except on Wednesdays and Fridays. Fish, w**e and oil are allowed on November 21, the Feast of the Entrance of the Theotokos. From December 12 to 24, we observe a strict fast with relaxation for w**e and oil on Saturdays and Sundays.

في 15 تشرين الثاني، نبدأ بعون الله، صيام الميلاد الأربعيني إستعداداً لعيد الميلاد المجيد في 25 كانون الأول. خلال هذه الفترة، ننقطع عن اللحم والدجاج والبيض ومشتقات الحليب والأجبان. وفق توجيهات بطركية أنطاكية وسائر المشرق للروم الأرثوذكس، ليس من الضروري الإنقطاع عن الزيت ولكن يستطيع من يريد ذلك أن يفعله.
من 15 تشرين الثاني ولغاية 11 كانون الأول، يسمح بتناول السمك والخمر والزيت كل ايام الأسبوع ما عدا يومي الأربعاء والجمعة. ولكن يسمح بتناول السمك والخمر والزيت في عيد دخول سيدتنا والدة الإله إلى الهيكل في 21 تشرين الثاني. من 12 كانون الأول ولغاية 24 منه نتبع صوماً صارماً مع السماح بالخمر والزيت في أيام السبت والأحد.
