From all of us at Donnybrook Community Church… 💙

We wish a very Happy Father’s Day to all the dads!

Thank you for the dad jokes, the fun adventures, the prayers, the sacrifices, the life lessons, and simply showing up.

Thank you for the ways you reflect the heart of our Heavenly Father — loving, guiding, protecting, encouraging and being present.

“As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.”
— Psalm 103:13

Today we celebrate you, we honour you, and we pray God’s blessing over you and your families.

And for those for whom Father’s Day carries grief, longing or complicated memories — you are seen, loved and held by God today too. 💙

Happy Father’s Day! 🙏

RESILIENCE 🌿

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord,
whose confidence is in him.
They will be like a tree planted by the water
that sends out its roots by the stream.”
Jeremiah 17:7–8

Resilience. It’s a modern-day buzzword.

But long before the how-to posts, three-step plans and inspirational quotes, there was an ancient path to resilience: **putting down deep roots in God.**

This Testimony Sunday, we’ll hear stories of resilience — of people who have walked through heat, drought and difficult seasons, yet discovered that God remains faithful.

🌿 Come and hear stories of resilience in Jesus.

🎁 SHOEBOXES OF HOPE

On Sunday, Bec shared about **Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child** — an opportunity to fill a shoebox and bless a child who most needs hope this Christmas. ❤️

Interested in getting involved? Pick up a shoebox and brochure this Sunday and join us in sharing joy, hope and the love of Jesus with a child around the world.

One shoebox. One child. One small gift that can make a big difference. 🎄✨

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” 🧩

On Sunday, we wrapped up *Practicing the Way* with **Life Together** — exploring what it means to follow Jesus not just as individuals, but as a community.

💥 YOUR CHALLENGE THIS WEEK: LEVEL UP.

**Already in a small group?**
Talk together about these three words: depth, vulnerability and transformation.

Which one is hardest for you?
Where do you tend to hold back?
And what might it look like to take one small step deeper?

**Not in a small group?**
Think of one person you could “level up” with.

☕ Invite them for a coffee.
🍽️ Have them over for a meal.
🚶‍♀️ Go for a walk.
💬 And risk sharing a little more than you normally would.

And speaking of community… 👀

Take a look at this **Donnybrook Community Art Project!** 🎨🧩

Can you spot our jigsaw pieces? Look out for our kids’ thumbprints surrounding the iconic DCC table! 👋

And how many other Donnybrook community groups can you spot?

We go further together. ❤️

LIFE TOGETHER 🤝

This Sunday, we wrap up *Practicing the Way* with *Life Together*.

There’s an ancient proverb: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

Following Jesus is a long, winding journey of becoming people of love—and it was never meant to be a solo journey.

Jesus forms us in community: through friendship, serving, forgiveness, challenge, laughter, conflict and shared life.

Because we don’t just learn about love.
We learn to love real people.

Join us this Sunday as we explore *Life Together*.

🙏 PRAYER UPDATE | Sam & Bec Gorfine — Groote Eylandt

We’re thankful for the latest update from Sam and Bec Gorfine, serving Jesus with their family on Groote Eylandt.

It’s been a full and exhausting month, with funerals, visitors, ministry commitments and the arrival of representatives from Bible Society Australia, AuSIL/Nungalinya and the Diocese.

🌿 A season of restoration
After such a busy season, Sam and Bec have been grateful for some quieter weeks — walking together as a family, enjoying the afternoon sun and resting by the river. They’ve been reminded that God “makes me lie down in green pastures… He restores my soul.” (Psalm 23:2–3)

📖 God’s Word in Anindilyakwa
A major highlight was the reprinting and re-dedication of the Anindilyakwa Mini Bible, giving people access once again to Scripture in their own language. The week brought together Christians from across the island and included Bible engagement, audio recording and conversations about future translation projects.

🙌 Encouraging growth
It’s been wonderful to see growth among the men in the churches, with men from different communities leading worship and preaching together. There are also opportunities for young people and families to encounter biblical teaching through church and funeral ministry.

Please join us in praying:

🙏 That more people would grow in Anindilyakwa literacy and that reading God’s Word would draw them closer to Jesus.

🙏 That more Groote Eylandters would be trained as Bible translators.

🙏 That people across the island would engage more meaningfully and regularly with God’s Word.

🙏 And that Sam, Bec, Hudson and Micah would continue to know God’s rest, strength and encouragement in this busy season.

“He restores my soul.” — Psalm 23:3

Thank you for continuing to pray for the Gorfine family and the ministry on Groote Eylandt. ❤️

Last night, our Kids Church team started planning something VERY exciting… a **kids-led service!** 🎉

At DCC, we believe kids are not just the church of tomorrow — **they are the church today.** ❤️

We want to be a church where kids are **seen, heard and have a seat at the table.** And we can’t wait to see what happens when our kids get to lead us in worship, prayer, sharing and more!

📅 **SAVE THE DATE — Sunday 4 October**

Stay tuned for more info! 👀✨

What if following Jesus shaped your whole life? 🌿

This Sunday, we’re continuing our Practicing the Way series with Ange Smith, exploring one of the most practical tools for becoming more like Jesus: a Rule of Life.

A Rule of Life is an intentional rhythm of schedules, practices and relationships that creates space for us to:

✨ Be with Jesus
✨ Become like Jesus
✨ Do what Jesus did

It’s about slowing down, simplifying and making room for God in the everyday rhythms of life—not just on Sundays.

Because spiritual formation doesn't happen by accident. We become who we give our time and attention to.

Come along this Sunday as Ange helps us think about how we can turn our desire to follow Jesus into a way of life.
