On Sunday, Dave looked at two examples of 'deep' worship in the Bible - David's response to the ark of God returning to Jerusalem; and the living creatures and elders worshipping before the throne of God in Revelation 4.

And if those examples become our vision of what worshipping God can, and will, look like, how does it compare with our modern-day worship?
Have we settled for shallow worship?
Do we truly believe that God is 'worthy to receive all glory, honour, and power'?

There's room for all of us to go deeper in worship of our immense, amazing God.

"Is there more to Christianity than this?"

Have you ever asked yourself that question?
Perhaps it's been on the drive home after a lacklustre church service...
Perhaps you've read your Bible and gotten nothing out of it...
Perhaps you've poured out your heart to God and felt like he wasn't even listening...

The answer is "Yes", there is more to Christianity than however you currently feel.
God wants a relationship with us through his Son, not simply obedience to a set of habitual practices.
There's more to Christianity, because there is more to God!

Our hope is to grow more in our understanding of God, so we can go deeper in our relationship with him. Join us over the next four weeks as we consider what it could like like to go deeper in Worship, Prayer, Bible Reading, and Relationships.

Hey there, this is Dave. I just wanted to share an update with you.

Yesterday we announced in our services across the parish that I've accepted the Bishop's appointment to be the next Priest in Charge of the Parish of Devonport!

This is bittersweet news, as my family have come to love life and ministry here in the Southern Beaches over the past 6 years. We've made incredible life-long friends inside and outside of the church, we've seen many people come to faith and be baptised, and we've loved seeing people live out their faith through the ups and downs of real life.

Whilst the Diocese' recent increased liability for Redress was the catalyst for our departure, we trust that God is sovereign over this and in this, both for our family and for the church.

We are looking forward to returning to the North-West coast, and we trust God is moving us because he has good work for us to do. We've so enjoyed being a part of this beautiful Southern Beaches community, and we're looking forward to what God has in store for our family in Devonport.

Our last Sunday in the parish will be 4 October, before beginning the new role in mid-November.

As for this church, it's not going anywhere!
It's a new season, but as Stephen preached yesterday, we just offer our 'two fish and five loaves' to God and trust him to do his thing.

If you're a local, you're absolutely welcome to join us at 4pm at Blue Lagoon Camp every Sunday. We'd love to help you know and love Jesus for yourself.

Peace,

Dave

Ok, the day you've been waiting for!

The social media intern is back from holidays, and here is the sermon drop from the past few weeks!! Make yourself a nice cup of something, get all snuggly in a blanket on the couch (after you go to church today) and just binge-listen the final sermons/chapters* of our Genesis series that has spanned the last 3 years!

*(one missing due to technological difficulties, but 3/4 ain't bad)

All of the preachers did such a great job, I'm sure you'll be really encouraged and challenged by what they have to share from God's word.

Our Social Media Intern is heading away for a few weeks, so there won't be any podcasts available for a while. But when they get back they'll upload all of them at once for you to binge.

Meanwhile, here's the latest sermon from Genesis 39-40, where Dave asks the question, "Where is God in the Unknown?": https://open.spotify.com/episode/3yoXiS84viD9htBQRnLcGs?si=32f36155b8ae4f30

On Sunday, Dave asked the question,
"Who here has a messy family tree? Who has people in their family who have gone to jail, had affairs, family members not speaking to each other etc."

At a good, wholesome Anglican church you might expect no hands went up, right?
Wrong!
More than half the room put their hands up!

The myth that Christianity is somehow the religion of those who are, and have always been, morally upright, squeaky clean, and generally have an easy life... well, it's a myth!

The question is, what does God do with our mess, and where is he when we're in the middle of it? That's the question Dave asked and answered in his sermon from Genesis 38.

Note: this chapter and sermon comes with some adult themes.

That's how we might summarise Paul's approach to the Corinthians using their gifts in the church, and how we ought to approach using our gifts in our church.

"Yes, you have spiritual gifts!
Yes, discover them, use them, and enjoy using them!
But...
use them with an attitude of love for one another."
