10 Unbiblical facts about Sabbath

10 UNBIBLICAL FACTS ABOUT THE SABBATH 🥺

1. 🌍 “The Sabbath was only for the Jews.”
❌ Not biblical. The Sabbath was blessed and sanctified at Creation before there was a Jew (Genesis 2:2–3). Jesus said, “The Sabbath was made for man” (Mark 2:27), meaning all humanity.

2. ✝️ “Jesus abolished the Sabbath.”
❌ Not biblical. Jesus said, “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law” (Matthew 5:17–19), and He regularly kept the Sabbath (Luke 4:16).

3. 📅 “The Sabbath was changed from Saturday to Sunday.”
❌ Not biblical. There is no verse where God blesses, sanctifies, or commands Sunday as the new Sabbath. The seventh day remains God’s holy day (Exodus 20:8–11).

4. ❤️ “Keeping the Sabbath is legalism.”
❌ Not biblical. We are saved by grace, but grace produces obedience (Ephesians 2:8–10). Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15).

5. ⛪ “The apostles worshiped on Sunday because it replaced the Sabbath.”
❌ Not biblical. The apostles consistently attended Sabbath worship after Christ’s resurrection (Acts 13:42–44; Acts 17:2; Acts 18:4).

6. 📖 “The Sabbath was part of the ceremonial law nailed to the cross.”
❌ Not biblical. The Sabbath is part of the Ten Commandments, written by God’s own finger (Exodus 31:18), not the ceremonial laws written by Moses.

7. 👑 “The Sabbath no longer matters after the cross.”
❌ Not biblical. Jesus expected Sabbath observance decades after His resurrection (Matthew 24:20), and Isaiah says all flesh will worship God from Sabbath to Sabbath in the new earth (Isaiah 66:22–23).

8. 🔥 “Any day can be the Sabbath if you worship sincerely.”
❌ Not biblical. God specifically blessed and sanctified the seventh day, not just one day out of seven (Genesis 2:2–3; Exodus 20:8–11).

9. 🌅 “The Lord’s Day in Revelation is Sunday.”
❌ Not biblical. Revelation never defines the Lord’s Day as Sunday. Jesus declared Himself “Lord of the Sabbath” (Mark 2:28), and the Sabbath is repeatedly called the Lord’s holy day (Isaiah 58:13).

10. 🌿 “The Sabbath was only temporary.”
❌ Not biblical. The Sabbath existed before sin entered the world (Genesis 2:2–3) and will continue after sin is gone (Isaiah 66:22–23). It spans from Creation to the New Earth.

It is with great sadness that we finally announce here the passing of our Brother & Head Treasurer, Noel Hockey. Many of us know Noel and have had time spent with him at church whether working together in Treasury, I.T. in our Social events or other areas. He was always willing to serve Sandgate church and was one of the main things that kept him going.

He had been fighting several health issues the last few years especially, nevertheless continuing through the pain and was extremely dedicated to Sandgate Church until his sleep at around 4pm Tuesday 14 July. While we will appreciate his great dedication and will miss Him greatly, we find some comfort that he has no more pain, and is resting now until the Glorious morning of our Lord's soon return.

More details will be shared as we receive them.
