Friars' Van - April 2026
A throw back of Holy Week and Easter Celebration - Palm Crosses were prepared by the FV Volunteers on Good Friday night. They were offered and well received by many of the brothers and sisters who came by the Friars' Van at the ministry site. Easter bunnies and Easter eggs were also distributed in anticipation of the Easter Celebration.
It is always a great joy and blessing to be involved with the ministry of service, supporting the brothers and sisters in Christ who are less fortunate and marginalised in the city area of Sydney. We make ourselves available to serve the warm/cool drinks, share little sweets, distribute the donated goods (bread, food parcels, toiletries), engage through listening, conversing and sharing of stories and experiences with all those who come to the Friars' Van. We are very grateful for all the donations of goods we received, which allows us to distribute and share with the brothers and sisters in Christ in the streets of Woolloomooloo, Sydney. May God bless our Volunteers and generous donors.

Friars' Van February- March 2026
It was wonderful to have some of the new volunteers on board, serving for the first time on the Friars' Van after attended our latest Induction Program. Rain, hail or shine the weather of the second half of February and early March was rather unpredictable. We saw the needs for assistance during these weeks despite the heavy rain and wet weather conditions at times. It is always a great joy and special blessing to be able to be present, serve and share the time with the brothers and sisters in Christ that come to the Friars' Van. We welcome 16 new volunteers to the Friars' Van, who were inducted over the weekend. A wonderful bunch of young people who desire to put their faith into action, living out the Gospel message of serving those who are less fortunate, neglected and marginalised.

Friars' Van Resume - February 2026
It was a great joy and blessing to return to ministry, serving the fresh warm/cool drinks, sharing little sweets, distributing some much-needed bread (sweets and savouries) and engaging with the brothers and sisters in Christ whom we missed towards the end of last year and the beginning of 2026.

Our Friars' Van Volunteers and the Friars continue the outreach ministry twice weekly, Monday and Friday nights in the Sydney city area of Woolloomooloo. We serve and engage with the brothers and sisters in Christ who are less fortunate, isolated and marginalised due to various situations and circumstances in their lives. We are blessed to come to know some of them and hear their stories over time. We keep in our prayers and all those who are struggling with different forms of poverty.

Christmas Carols at the Friars' Van - Friday, 19 December 2025
Despite being a little wet on the night, the spirit of Christmas and celebration we kept alive through music and carols, thanks to our Friars' Van Volunteers. The Christmas parcels and sweets were very well received and much appreciated by the brothers and sisters in Christ who came to the Friars' Van.

Christmas Appeal 2025
With gratitude and great appreciation, we would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Friars' Van Christmas Appeal 2025.
We received an overwhelming response and were able to put together over 80 Christmas parcels for the brothers and sisters in Christ who were experiencing poverty and isolation in the city area of Sydney, Woolloomooloo. We would like to acknowledge and thank particularly the support and generous donations from the St Fiacre's Catholic Primary School Leichhardt Community - Parents, Staff and Students; The Catholic Women League Sydney (https://www.cwlsydney.org.au/); The Residents of Dalton Gardens Village, Ryde; St. Fiacre’s Parish; And, an amazing benefactor who organized, prepared and donated over 200 packets of lollies and chocolates.

Friars' Van Induction Program at UNDA Broadway Campus

Friars Van - November 2025
We continue our outreach ministry providing the warm/cool drinks, little chocolate sweets, and distributing the bread/pastries to our brothers and sisters in Christ at the Friars' Van. A very special thanks to the youths of the Manly Freshwater Parish, through their social justice event in November, they were able to collect and put together 37 non-perishable food packs, 21 men's and 20 women's hygiene packs. We distributed the food packs last week and will continue to distribute the hygiene packs the coming weeks on their behalf. They food packs were very well received and very much appreciated. It is truly a gift and blessing of being able to be present and available to the brothers and sisters in Christ that come to the Friars' Van. In the fraternal spirit, we always find ourselves in good company, listening and sharing stories or sometimes even just a simple smile of acknowledgement is sufficient for a brother or sister in Christ who feels more secure in their own reservation.
Through the Holy Spirit we were brought together for the Glory of God.
