God promises the people of Israel that the very words He heard them saying would come to pass. The Israelites had repeatedly grumbled that God had brought them out of Egypt to die, and that was what would happen to them.
Though they had experienced first-hand God’s mighty works, they let their fear win over their faith. Without faith, it is impossible to please God. Caleb and Joshua, however, saw the situation differently - the God who had brought them this far was with them, and He would help them conquer the land.
Let the words we speak this month of September be words of faith, no matter how impossible our situations may seem. Let us trust our God to lead us through, knowing that He sees our faith and will always be faithful to His promises.

Jesus met two disciples on the road to Emmaus whose hearts were heavy and hope had been crushed by His death.
Yet, Jesus didn’t condemn them for not understanding or recognizing Him. He listened, walked with them, and patiently revealed the Scriptures to them again.
Then, in an ordinary moment of breaking bread, their eyes were opened and they recognized Him. All was not lost. Jesus was alive.
Their response was immediate-they changed direction, returned to Jerusalem, and testified about what they had encountered.
May we also meet Jesus in the ordinary moments of our daily walk, especially when we feel like all is lost. May our eyes be opened to His presence, our hope restored, and our direction changed.

David spoke these words while fleeing from his son, Absalom, with his future looking bleak and many waiting for his downfall. Yet David didn’t run to people for refuge - He ran into the presence of God.
His presence is our shield, fortress, and refuge. When we hide under His wings, we are covered and safe.
There is a season of lifting and exaltation that can only come when we first learn to hide ourselves in Him, for He is our glory and the lifter of our heads.
