Congregations have previously engaged with the Risk and Compliance team, which has now expanded to include Work, Health, and Safety (WHS). This change coincides with the arrival of Kristina Moir, who joined as WHS Manager on 9 December 2024.

To reflect this broader scope, the team has been renamed Risk, Audit, and WHS. Acting Head Devin North emphasises the team’s commitment to providing practical support and guidance, ensuring that Congregations, Volunteers, and Office Bearers are well-equipped to foster a safer and more resilient Church community.

Devin is dedicated to helping Congregations navigate risk, reframing it as an opportunity for growth rather than a challenge to overcome. As part of this approach, Risk, Audit, and WHS has relaunched Risk Bites—a resource designed to clarify responsibilities and highlight potential risks.

Many Canberrans will be travelling this holiday season. Whether you’re travelling interstate or staying in Canberra, we’d like to remind everyone to please stay safe on our roads.

🚗 There are more motorists on the road in summer, in particular on the Kings Highway, as Canberrans commute to holiday destinations on the south coast. Drivers are urged to slow down, drive to the conditions, put the phone away, and be patient during expected periods of congestion on the road.

⏰ Allow extra time to get to your destination and remember to take regular breaks, rest when tired, and always stick to the speed limit.

🚫 You should also not drive after taking any amount of illicit drugs or while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, as it impacts your ability to have proper control of the motor vehicle.

📷 While driving in Canberra remember that mobile device detection cameras are in use in the ACT. Drivers detected committing road offences by Canberra’s road safety camera network will have their vehicle details checked to make sure their ACT registration is up to date. Don't risk your ride, leave your phone alone.

🚙 If you are planning to take a trailer and caravan, remember to register it ahead of time and avoid the risk of a fine. The good news is you can renew your caravan or trailer registration online at www.act.gov.au/updateyourrego

We all have a responsibility to keep our roads safe. Learn more at: www.act.gov.au/roadsafety
