Today, we began our Salvatorian Regional Meeting in Australia with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, presided over by our Salvatorian bishops, Bishop George Kołodziej SDS and Bishop Karol Kulczycki SDS.

The Mass was offered in a special way for our confrere from Poland, Fr Tomasz Górny SDS, Provincial Treasurer, who is celebrating the 25th anniversary of his religious vows. We give thanks to God for his vocation, faithful service and many years of commitment to the Salvatorian mission.

During the Eucharist, our Deputy Provincial, Fr Mikołaj Markiewicz SDS, who has also travelled from Poland to join us for the jubilee celebrations on 8 September at Ocean Reef Parish, delivered a very inspiring homily. He reflected on the beauty and responsibility of religious life, reminding us of our call to remain faithful to our vows and wholehearted in our commitment to God.

May this time together strengthen our fraternity, renew our vocation and deepen our dedication to the Salvatorian mission.

Clergy Leadership Program – First Meeting

Today, our Superior, Fr Greg Skulski SDS, together with Dr Debra Sayce, Head of Mission Enhancement and Outreach for the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth, had the privilege of co-hosting the first meeting dedicated to the development of the Clergy Leadership Program which will be held in the future at the Salvatorian Spiritually Centre in Perth.

The initial team brings together members from across Australia who hold leadership roles within different archdioceses, dioceses and Catholic institutions. Their diverse experience, expertise and perspectives will be invaluable in developing a program that responds to the realities and needs of clergy across the Australian Church.

What began as Fr Greg’s idea and a vision is now beginning to take shape.

The conversation reflected a shared desire to see clergy passionate about their ministry, confident in their leadership and well equipped for the increasingly complex responsibilities of priestly life today. The program will focus on practical leadership skills, personal and ministerial wellbeing, and leadership rooted in faith, service and mission.

An important focus will be synodal leadership—forming priests who listen, discern, collaborate and walk together with the people they serve.

There is still a great deal of work ahead as the team continues to develop the content, structure and practical aspects of the program. However, there is great hope that the Clergy Leadership Program will be ready to launch in the second half of 2027 and be offered to clergy throughout the Catholic Church in Australia.

Above all, the hope is that this program will be genuinely transformative—not only for clergy and the way they exercise their ministry and leadership, but also for the communities they are called to serve. By forming confident, compassionate and synodal leaders, the program seeks to strengthen parishes and communities, enabling them to become increasingly vibrant, collaborative and missionary.

We are very grateful to everyone who contributed their experience, ideas and enthusiasm. This is only the beginning, but an important and exciting first step has been taken.

This initiative represents another Salvatorian contribution to the wider Catholic Church in Australia.

Please pray for this program, that it may be shaped according to God’s will and guided always by His wisdom and grace.

Today, we are delighted to share the wonderful news that our Superior, Fr Greg Skulski SDS, was elected by approximately 140 religious leaders at the Catholic Religious Australia (CRA) National Assembly in Melbourne as a new member of the National Council of Catholic Religious Australia.

This appointment is both a great honour and an important responsibility, offering Fr Greg an opportunity to contribute to the life, mission and future of religious communities across Australia. We warmly congratulate him on his election and assure him of our prayers and support as he takes on this new responsibility.

May the Holy Spirit guide Fr Greg in this new role, grant him wisdom and strength, and bless his service to religious life and the wider Church in Australia.

National Assembly for Catholic Religious Leaders in Australia

The 2026 Catholic Religious Australia (CRA) National Assembly brings together around 140leaders of Religious Institutes from across Australia under the theme “Our Adventure of Love, for the Life of the World.”

Inspired by Pope Leo’s reminder that “religious vocation is, above all, an adventure of love with God,” the Assembly invites participants to reflect on what this vocation means for Religious Institutes in Australia at this point in our history. It provides an opportunity to explore how religious communities can walk together in communion, continuing to bring hope and healing to the people we encounter, the land we inhabit, and the Church we serve.

Our Salvatorian community is represented at the Assembly by our Regional Superior, Fr Greg Skulski SDS.

A special highlight of the day was the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, presided over by Archbishop Peter Comensoli, Archbishop of Melbourne.

We are delighted to welcome our new candidates who have joined the Salvatorians and last week began their formation journey at our seminary in the Philippines. This is an important first step in their discernment of God’s call and their journey towards Salvatorian religious life and priesthood. We keep them in our prayers, asking God to guide, strengthen and bless them as they grow in faith, community life and the Salvatorian charism.

Salvatorian Jubilee Celebrations

The Salvatorian Fathers warmly invite you to join us in celebrating three special jubilees:

* 145th Anniversary of the Salvatorian Order
* 65th Anniversary of Salvatorian Ministry in Australia
* 25th Anniversary of Salvatorian Ministry at Ocean Reef Parish

The celebrations will take place on Tuesday, 8 September at Simon Peter church in Ocean Reef Parish, beginning with a Solemn Mass at 6:30 pm, celebrated by Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB, followed by a light supper.

Last Tuesday, on the Feast Day of Blessed Francis Jordan, two of our seminarians, Ricardo and Paulino, joyfully renewed their religious vows. Their renewed commitment to poverty, chastity, and obedience is a beautiful witness of faith and trust in God’s call. We thank the Lord for the gift of their vocation and pray that Blessed Francis Jordan may continue to inspire and strengthen them as they faithfully follow Christ and prepare for a lifetime of missionary service in the Church.

Last night was a joyful and grace-filled evening as our Salvatorian community in Perth came together with our Lay Salvatorians and Salvatorian Collaborators to celebrate the Feast Day of our beloved Founder, Blessed Francis Jordan.

It was a beautiful opportunity to give thanks for the gift of our Salvatorian vocation and to renew our commitment to the mission entrusted to us—to make Jesus, the Divine Saviour, known and loved by all.

In his homily, our Superior, Fr Greg Skulski SDS, reminded us that the witness of Blessed Francis Jordan is needed now more than ever. He said:

“The Church needs today Blessed Francis Jordan’s courage. Courage to speak about Christ with humility and joy. Courage to pray publicly and privately. Courage to accompany young people searching for meaning. Courage to welcome those who feel forgotten. Courage to build communities where faith is lived, celebrated, and shared.”

These words challenge each of us to be courageous disciples in our families, parishes, schools, workplaces, and communities. Blessed Francis Jordan believed that every person has a role in proclaiming the Gospel. His vision continues to inspire us to live our faith with joy, humility, and unwavering trust in God’s providence.

May his example encourage us to step forward with renewed hope, sharing Christ’s love wherever we are called to serve.
