40th Anniversary of St Simon Peter Parish in Ocean Reef

Last weekend, we joyfully celebrated a Thanksgiving Mass marking the 40th Anniversary of St Simon Peter Parish in Ocean Reef, Perth. For the past 25 years, the parish has been entrusted to the care of the Salvatorians, who continue to serve the community with dedication and faith.

The principal celebrant was Bishop Don Sproxton, who joined parishioners, former parish priests, and guests in giving thanks to God for four decades of parish life and ministry. The celebration brought together many members of the parish family, past and present, reflecting on the rich history of the community and looking forward with hope to the future. It was a joyful and faith-filled occasion for all.

Today, our Regional Superior, Fr Greg Skulski SDS, met with Dr Debra Sayce, Head of Mission Enhancement and Outreach for the Catholic Archdiocese of Perth, to begin discussions on the development of a future Clergy Leadership Program that we hope to offer to the Australian Church at Salvatorian Spirituality Center in Perth.

The meeting marked an important first step in what we believe will become a valuable initiative for the ongoing formation and support of clergy. While there is still much work ahead, many inspiring ideas were explored regarding the challenges and opportunities facing priests and Church leaders in contemporary society.

The world in which we minister is changing rapidly. Parish communities are becoming increasingly diverse, technology continues to transform communication, and the expectations placed upon clergy are constantly evolving. In this environment, it is essential that priests are provided with opportunities for ongoing formation, leadership development, and practical skills training.

The proposed program aims to equip clergy with tools that will help them lead more effectively, communicate more confidently, build stronger relationships, and respond creatively to the pastoral needs of the people they serve. Above all, it seeks to strengthen their ability to proclaim the Gospel and carry out the mission of evangelisation in today’s world.

We ask for your prayers as this exciting project continues to take shape and develop for the benefit of the Church in Australia.

Blessed Francis Jordan, pray for us.

📅 SALVATORIAN CONTINENTAL MEETING 📅
After many days of meetings, fellowship, prayer, presentations, group discussions, sharing of experiences, openness to collaboration, and discernment under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we have concluded our Continental Meeting for Asia and Oceania.

It has been a fruitful, inspiring, and informative time, allowing us to deepen our relationships, learn more about one another, and gain a greater understanding of the ministries and apostolic works carried out by Salvatorians throughout Asia and Oceania. We have been enriched by the diversity of our communities and encouraged by the many ways the Salvatorian charism is being lived and shared across this part of the world.

As we now return to our homes and ministries, we do so renewed in spirit, strengthened in fraternity, and filled with hope for the future of the Salvatorian mission. One of the strongest messages emerging from our gathering is that hope has no limits when it is rooted in Christ. No matter the challenges we face, the opportunities for evangelization, growth, and service remain abundant. Guided by the Holy Spirit, we look to the future with confidence, trusting that God continues to open new paths for our mission.

A special highlight of our gathering was the final evening, when we were warmly welcomed to the Salvatorian Philosophy Formation House. There, the children and youth involved in the Blessed Francis Jordan Ministry prepared a beautiful Filipino cultural performance for us. Their joyful presentations, traditional dances, music, and hospitality were a wonderful expression of faith, culture, and community. It was an inspiring reminder that the Salvatorian charism continues to take root in the hearts of young people and gives us great hope for the future of our mission in Asia and Oceania.

May the fruits of this gathering inspire greater collaboration, zeal, and commitment to proclaiming the Gospel wherever we are called to serve.

May Blessed Francis Jordan continue to intercede for us, his spiritual sons, that we may faithfully live his vision and carry forward his mission for the salvation of all.

Blessed Francis Jordan, pray for us. 🙏

MAY 24, 2026 | PENTECOST SUNDAY

O God, who by the mystery of today's great feast sanctify your whole Church in every people and nation, pour out, we pray, the gifts of the Holy Spirit across the face of the earth and, with the divine grace that was at work when the Gospel was first proclaimed, fill now once more the hearts of believers. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen

24/05/2026

Holy Spirit, come to me and bestow upon me Your seven-fold gifts, so that I can grow closer to Christ Jesus and act more faithfully as a member of His Body.
Bear good fruit in my life and in the lives of others, so that the saving message of the Gospel will reach far and wide, drawing all people to Yourself for Your eternal praise and glory.
Most Holy Trinity — Father, Son and Holy Spirit — I love You, believe in You and trust in You.

Ash Wednesday opens the sacred season of Lent, a time of grace and spiritual renewal. As ashes are placed on our foreheads, we hear the solemn words, “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return,” or “Repent and believe in the Gospel.” These words remind us of our human fragility, but also of God’s great mercy. Lent is not meant to discourage us; rather, it invites us to begin again.

Through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, we turn our hearts back to God. We examine our lives, acknowledge our weaknesses, and seek reconciliation. Repentance is not only about sorrow for sin, but about transformation — allowing God to reshape our thoughts, desires, and actions.

Ash Wednesday calls us to humility and hope. Marked with ashes, we step onto a journey that leads to Easter joy. May this holy season renew our faith, strengthen our love, and draw us closer to Christ.
