The Anglican Parish of Cohuna

The Anglican Parish of Cohuna Cranmer the Martyr Cohuna, Latimer the Martyr Leitchville, Christ Church Gunbower. Partners in the Gannawarra Cluster Ministry.

The Anglican Parish of Cohuna incorporates Cranmer the Martyr Cohuna, Latimer the Martyr Church Leitchville and Christchurch Gunbower. These three churches have a long history, and used to be parishes in their own right when founded back in the day and populations were bigger! Though fewer in number these days, our members are actively engaged in many aspects of community life. We currently operat

e an OpShop in Cohuna. We are proud that the Rev'd Mabel Bostock, was 100 years ago the first woman to be ordained in the Diocese of Bendigo and subsequently appointed to Leitchville Parish. One of our largest undertakings is our annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Morning Tea with Op-Shop Fashion Parade, which serves morning tea to over 100 guests, and delivers pancakes to over 100 businesses in the local area. We are a founding member and key partner of the Gannawarra Memorial Toy Run, and with the Uniting Church and community partners host a bi-monthly Men's Breakfast.

Today we joined with other churches within the district, in a service conducted by members of the Uniting Church, around a campfire at Tree Tops. During the service Carol Boyce was commissioned as a paster for the Mallee Rivers Regional Team - Cohuna/Kerang/Moulamein /Pyramid Hill and Swan Hill
for the next three years. It was a wonderful morning of prayer fellowship and friendship followed by a BBQ lunch.

COHUNA ANGLICAN CHURCH - MARY SUMNER DAY
Today we celebrated the150th Birthday of MOTHERS UNION.
It is 150 years since Mothers Union was founded in Hampshire England by Mary Sumner - a vicar's wife with a bold vision.
She believed that women, regardless of status or class, could come together in faith to support one another and strengthen family life within the church. Nine of our members welcomed Hannah Chaplain of Mothers Union - Bendigo Diocese, Leonie Stauch and Barry & Jenny Rainsford from Bendigo along with members from our local churches who enjoyed the service and joined in fellowship over lunch afterwards

Matthew 14:22–36 recounts Jesus walking on water, Peter stepping out in faith, and Jesus healing the sick in Gennesaret. The passage reveals Jesus' divine identity as the Son of God, teaches believers to keep their focus on Him during life's storms, and demonstrates His compassionate power to save.

Matthew 14:13-21,
Jesus feeds the five thousand. Following the ex*****on of John the Baptist, Jesus seeks solitude. Despite this, crowds follow Him. Moved by compassion, He heals the sick. When faced with the logistical problem of feeding the multitude, Jesus miraculously multiplies five loaves and two fish, satisfying everyone with surplus.
DIVINE COMPASSION: Even while grieving the death of his cousin, John the Baptist, Jesus sets aside his own needs to care for the physical and spiritual hunger of the crowds.
