Pulse is the young adults group at Claremont Baptist Church, existing to provide a place for young adults (approx. 18-28 year olds) to come, experience the love of God together and to grow spiritually in Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. We seek to reflect the heartbeat of God:
LOVE - UNITY - MISSION
LOVE
God is love. This love is revealed to us primarily through the death and resurrection
of his Son Jesus Christ (1 John 4.10; Rom. 5.8). Through Jesus' death and resurrection we can experience eternal life, which relationship with our Creator (John 3.16; 17.2). We reflect this love by loving God and loving others. This is done by daily taking up our cross, wholly devoting our lives to God, loving God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength; and selflessly loving others, by placing them before ourselves, being - like Christ - willing to serve them and, if needed, giving our lives for them (Matt. 22.37-39; Luke 9.23; Phil. 2.5-8; John 15.12-13). UNITY
God is a trinity: Father, Son and Spirit. As a result, he is a relational being. Being made in his image and likeness, we too are relational beings, being united to God and united to other Christians (Gen. 1.26-27; John 1.1-2, 14; 14:9; 17:21). This unity is called the Church, the Body and Bride of Christ, the People of God, and the community of salvation (1 Cor. 12.27; Rev. 21.2; 1 Pet. 2.9). We reflect this unity by loving, forgiving and encouraging one another, removing discrimination, pride and selfishness, and praying that God would be present, strengthening and unifying his Church (Eph. 4.2, 32; Col. 3.13; 1 Thess. 5.11; Gal. 3.28; Prov. 16.18; Rom. 2.8). MISSION
That God sent his Son to reclaim relationship with his creation is evidence that God is missional in nature. This is reflected in his election of Israel, and his election of us in Christ before the foundation of the Earth. It is reflected in the sending of the Holy Spirit to guide us and is reflected in Christ's command that we go to the ends of the Earth proclaiming the Gospel (Deu. 7.6; Isa. 43.10; Eph. 1.4; John 14.25-26; Matt. 28.16-20). We reflect this missional nature of God by being missional ourselves. We proactively preach the Gospel through both word and deed, seeking the prosperity of our nation, working hard at everything we do, praying for our neighbours and submitting to the teaching of the Bible (Mark 16.15; Acts 10.39-42; Jer. 29.7; Col. 3.23; Eph. 6.7, 18; 1 Thess. 5.17; 1 Tim. 2.1; James 4.7; 2 Tim. 3.14-17). The primary way we do mission in this world is by loving one another. Our unity, based in love, proclaims to the world that we are disciples of Christ (John 13.35; 17.20-23). Pulse meets at CBC on Sunday nights at 5.30pm, unless noted otherwise. For more information, contact Aaron at:
