Last Saturday, a beautiful group of women from our parish communities in Childers, Biggenden and Gin Gin went away to Santa Teresa Spirituality Centre in Ormiston for a Womenโs Retreat weekend centred around rest, reflection, connection and faith.
One of the most special parts of the weekend was seeing women from different generations come together. Younger and older, experienced and new, each woman carrying her own story, her own experiences and her own journey of faith.
Through personal and group reflection, conversations and shared experiences, we were reminded that none of us walks exactly the same path. We all come from different places, we all see things differently, and we are all still learning and growing.
The weekend reminded us how important it is to truly listen to one another, to look at each other with kind eyes, to show respect even when our experiences are different, and most importantly, to build one another up rather than tear each other down.
We hope every woman who came away with us can take something positive from the weekend whether it was a new friendship, a moment of reflection, a deeper understanding of herself or simply the feeling of knowing she belongs.
And hopefully this is only the beginning. As Fr Jack often says, we may be a small country/rural parish community but that does not stop us from creating or accessing wonderful and meaningful opportunities like these for our parishioners. When women support women, when generations learn from one another and when faith brings people together, beautiful things can grow. May we continue to encourage one another, support one another and remember that each of us has our own mission, our own place and our own link in the chain. ๐ค
Thank you to Fr Jack who organised this retreat and encouraged the women of our parish to take part, to Steph Jorna for her role in the planning and facilitating, to Fr Frank Jones for stepping in for Fr Jack on Sunday to help wrap up our time together, and last but not least, the three beautiful women from our parish office: Jess, Georgina, and Sammy, who worked extraordinarily hard, even volunteering so many hours of their own time beyond their office duties, just so everyone could have the most beautiful experience to enjoy from the beginning to the end. We are aware that a number of our parishioners missed out this time, we look forward to having you with us next year!
