Redeemer City Church - Chatswood

Redeemer City Church - Chatswood We meet every Sunday at 10am Sebel, Chatswood. We are also currently streaming our service online as a response to the ongoing pandemic. WHO ARE WE?

Please join us via the link on redeemer.city We are a cross-cultural church, united by our faith in Jesus Christ - our Lord and Saviour. Above all else, we love Jesus. We just love that someone like Him would love people like us. So we are passionate about hearing Him speak to us through the Bible. We delight to speak to Him in prayer and song. We rejoice in sharing His love with those around us.

We love each other in our community. We rejoice with each other in the good times. We cherish each other’s support and care in the hard times. We are blessed to journey through life together. We love our city. We energetically engage with the pulse of the city of Chatswood, and seek to bring God’s love to our city in our time. We also seek to compassionately serve the less fortunate with the resources that God has blessed us with. We’d love for you to visit us sometime and we are sure you will feel at home. We’d love to welcome you into our community. www.redeemer.city

SUNDAY RECAP

This week we welcomed Pastor Paul Oh from Kingsway Evangelical Church, who preached from Hebrews 3:12–14. We were reminded of the danger of drifting away from the living God and the importance of encouraging one another daily so that we remain steadfast in our faith.

We look forward to welcoming Rev Joe and his family back next Sunday after their time away in Korea.

SUNDAY RECAP
Yesterday we had a special visitor-friendly service with Quiz Worx, who shared the Good News through puppets, music and the story of Burt and Benny. We were reminded that God is a strong and loving Father who welcomes us into his family through Jesus.

Evan also shared from Romans 4, reminding us that we are made right with God by faith, not by what we do.

Thank you to all the newcomers who joined us. We pray you will keep coming to get to know Jesus.

Please pray for Rev Joe while he is on leave, for rest, safety and gospel opportunities.

On 17 May, Rev Joe preached from Luke 23:32–43 on Jesus’ encounter with a criminal on the cross. We were reminded that Jesus deliberately went to the cross so that sinners like us could be forgiven and have eternal life with him.

On 24 May, Evan Oei returned to Redeemer and preached from Psalm 84 on Home. We were reminded that we are secure at home with the LORD, who lives in us and who we are coming home to.

This coming Sunday at 10am, Quiz Worx will be joining us for a special family service at The Sebel, Chatswood. Please come along and invite a friend.

Over the past two Sundays we continued our series looking at encounters with Jesus.

Last week, from Luke 7:36–50, we saw Jesus encounter a sinful woman at the home of a Pharisee. We were reminded that Jesus sees through our sin with love, and that in him we find forgiveness and peace.

This week, from Luke 19:1–10, we saw Jesus encounter Zacchaeus, an unpopular and sinful man. Jesus came to seek and save the lost, and Zacchaeus’ joyful welcome of Jesus led to a transformed life.

We also held our Town Hall meeting on 3 May, where we gave thanks, went through the church survey results, and reflected on both encouragements and lessons to learn. We keep trusting God as he continues to grow and shape us as a church family.

Over the past two Sundays we continued our series looking at encounters with Jesus.

From Mark 5:21–43, we saw Jesus meet a desperate father, a suffering woman, and a dead girl. In each situation, Jesus showed his power over sickness and even death itself. We were reminded that trusting in Jesus changes everything, because he is able to give life beyond the grave.

This week from Mark 10:17–31, we saw Jesus encounter a man who thought he could earn eternal life. Jesus showed that it is not about what we do, but about trusting him. Eternal life is not something we achieve, but something we receive by relying on Jesus alone.

Over the past two Sundays we reflected on who Jesus is and what we truly need from him.

On Easter Sunday from Matthew 28, we celebrated that Jesus has risen from the dead and has all authority in heaven and on earth. His resurrection shows that he is the true ruler of the world, and he calls all people to follow him and trust in him.

This week from Mark 2:1–12, we saw Jesus encounter a paralysed man. While the man came seeking healing, Jesus first forgave his sins, showing that our greatest need is not physical help but forgiveness. Jesus then healed the man to prove that he truly has authority to forgive.

SUNDAY RECAP
This week we continued in 1 Samuel 7 and saw Israel finally turn back to God. They repented, put away their false gods, and committed themselves to serve him alone. As they cried out to the Lord, he answered, rescued them, and brought peace.
We were reminded that God is ready to forgive and restore when we return to him.
We also completed our church survey together, helping us reflect on church life and look ahead as a community.

SUNDAY RECAP
This week we continued our series in 1 Samuel, looking at chapters 5 and 6 and reflecting on the power of God.

After the ark of the covenant was captured by the Philistines, they placed it in the temple of their god Dagon. But the Lord showed clearly that he alone is the true and living God. Dagon fell before the ark, and the Philistines experienced God’s judgment until they finally returned it to Israel.

The passage reminds us that God cannot be controlled or manipulated. He is powerful over all nations and all false gods. Our response is not to try to use God for our purposes, but to honour him with reverence and humility.
