Hello everyone,
The new year has well & truly started, and everyone now seems to be back in routine.
Is anyone like me & sometimes struggle with finding the time for our daily time with God? I try to set myself challenges each year to help with this.
Did anyone join me in my Proverbs Challenge last year? I did well, but not as well as I had hoped. Seems like I need a buddy, or a deadline to achieve.
Listening to a speaker mid-January, he was speaking on Joshua (Joshua 1:8) and God calling for Joshua to keep the book of the law always on his lip & meditate on it day & night.
While we are not under the law, but under the Grace of Jesus Christ, we should take Godβs direction & keep our scriptures on our lips & meditate on his word. It was suggested to memorise chapters & go through them during the day & even those nights where you cannot sleep, recite the words of God.
My challenge to myself this year is to memorise a chapter a month.
So far for January I have memorised Psalm 46. I did have a head start as I have previously memorised this for a drama presentation, but that was quite a while ago, but starting mid-January I allowed myself this head start.
For February, I am learning Genesis 1.
When I do wake up in the middle of the night, (which can be quite often) I start speaking the chapters I have learnt, & have realised that I fall back asleep much quicker.
So, who is with me & is up for a new challenge this year. If you see me, please feel free to get me to recite what I have learned. This will also give me a reason not to stop.
If you see me muttering quietly, you know what I am doing.
12 Chapters in 12 months. We can do this.
