Meet Tyler Heesh 👋 Our new Assistant Minister (5pm & Young Adults)
Tyler is married to Peta, loves sport (especially a close game), buys more books than he can keep up with, and will happily admit he “often takes long pauses before speaking.”
Before joining Park Road, he completed a Masters of Creative Writing and worked on a web app for a medicolegal company.
He’s coming to us from St James Croydon, the church where he became a Christian as a teenager, and brings with him a deep love for friendship, laughter, and helping people talk about the things that really matter.
What drew Tyler to Jesus, and keeps him going, is the surprising freedom of the gospel. As he puts it, Jesus is the one who “uses his freedom to serve,” seeking the weak and broken, and ultimately giving himself so that others might be saved. These days, Tyler says what sustains him is knowing that “Jesus is able to give rest to the weary… We weren’t built to carry what Jesus does.”
In his new role, Tyler will be caring for the 5pm congregation and Young Adults, with a heart to see the role shaped by the real needs of people at Park Road and in Carlton.
His hope is simple: to help young adults “draw nearer to Jesus… to live more like him as they’re filled with a bigger sense of his love for them.”
Tyler’s prayer for Park Road?
That it would be “a place where anyone could visit on a given week and be shown the grace of God,” and that, especially at 5pm, we’d keep becoming “more like Jesus than we are right now.”
We’re so thankful God has brought Tyler (and Peta) to Park Road, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.
