This past weekend, Park Road congregations had the opportunity to grow in fellowship together on our Weekend Away.

We were grateful to hear from guest speaker Julian, who challenged us to think deeply about how we answer the call given in Matthew 28, to:

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”.

Come to one of our Sunday services to take your next step with Jesus and discover what this could mean for your life.

Meet Tyler Heesh 👋 Our new Assistant Minister (5pm & Young Adults)

Tyler is married to Peta, loves sport (especially a close game), buys more books than he can keep up with, and will happily admit he “often takes long pauses before speaking.”

Before joining Park Road, he completed a Masters of Creative Writing and worked on a web app for a medicolegal company.

He’s coming to us from St James Croydon, the church where he became a Christian as a teenager, and brings with him a deep love for friendship, laughter, and helping people talk about the things that really matter.

What drew Tyler to Jesus, and keeps him going, is the surprising freedom of the gospel. As he puts it, Jesus is the one who “uses his freedom to serve,” seeking the weak and broken, and ultimately giving himself so that others might be saved. These days, Tyler says what sustains him is knowing that “Jesus is able to give rest to the weary… We weren’t built to carry what Jesus does.”

In his new role, Tyler will be caring for the 5pm congregation and Young Adults, with a heart to see the role shaped by the real needs of people at Park Road and in Carlton.

His hope is simple: to help young adults “draw nearer to Jesus… to live more like him as they’re filled with a bigger sense of his love for them.”

Tyler’s prayer for Park Road?

That it would be “a place where anyone could visit on a given week and be shown the grace of God,” and that, especially at 5pm, we’d keep becoming “more like Jesus than we are right now.”

We’re so thankful God has brought Tyler (and Peta) to Park Road, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.

👋 Meet Emma, our Families & Outreach Minister!

Emma’s been married to Ben for 32 years and is mum to four kids — Shaun, Bella, Ed and Sam — plus a growing extended family that includes her son-in-law John and daughter-in-law Meg.

When she’s not serving at Park Road four days a week (or chaplaining and teaching one day at St George Christian School), you might find her bushwalking, reading a good book or tending her garden.

Emma first encountered the love of God through reading 1 Corinthians 13.

“It rang so true. Then as I read more of the Bible and others walked alongside me, I was overwhelmed by the grace of God and that I didn’t have to earn his love. That truth still keeps me going today.”

Emma’s role at Park Road is all about people. Helping each person who comes through the doors to know Jesus and grow in him. From running English classes, Playgroup and SRE, to overseeing kids ministry and meeting with young women to read the Bible and pray, Emma loves it all.

“I especially love our weekly online prayer meeting. Seeing how God answers our prayers is the highlight of my week!”

This year, she’s excited about how God is growing Park Road, especially through newcomers and outreach ministries.

🙏 Emma asks for prayer that every newcomer to Park Road would feel truly welcomed and be encouraged to take their next step with Jesus, and that she herself would keep finding rest in God’s unchanging grace.

🌻 The flowers don’t worry about tomorrow. They don’t struggle to make themselves beautiful.

Yet God…

… provides for them fully, and he promises the same care for us.

What would it look like to trust that God’s provision extends not just to our needs, but to our lives, our hopes, our fears?

Life is messy, uncertain, and often overwhelming. But God invites us to pause, to notice his care, and to bring our worries to him.

Curious to explore what it means to live under God’s care? Come along this Sunday.
