With broken hearts we ask you to pray with with us.

God of all comfort,
We grieve the tragic loss of lives yesterday at Bondi Beach.
Please comfort those who grieve and all who have been impacted by this event.
We pray for the recovery of those who have been injured
and for the families of victims in their deep sadness.
We pray for the safety of the Jewish community.
We thank you for the police, first responders, and medical personnel,
and mental health professionals.
Please be with them in the coming days and weeks.
We pray for those who continue to be distressed
by these traumatic circumstances.
We are confused and distressed by violent and senseless acts in our city.
We cast all our anxieties on you, knowing that you care for us.
We pray for peace and justice.
Please turn our hearts to your Son,
that we may find our rest in him,
and hasten the day when peace and justice reign.
Come, Lord Jesus, come. Amen.

With a grateful heart, we thank each of you who has supported chaplaincy in places like prisons, hospitals, and emergencies. Because of your prayers and gifts, our chaplains continue to bring light and hope to those who need it most.

This year, we set a goal of raising $100,000 to close the subsidy gap. So far, we’ve reached $71,095.20—including $15,209 from October. There’s still time to help us meet our goal and sustain this vital ministry.

Thank you for making this mission possible. Every prayer and gift help keep hope alive in hidden places.

"One of the most challenging aspects of my work is in situations where I’m meeting a family for the first time to provide spiritual support because they have just lost their child in a tragedy."

Our chaplain, Karen McMillan, serves at the Children's Hospital at Westmead, providing emotional and spiritual support to children, families and staff.

When all seems lost, Chaplains bring hope. Support Karen's work by donating to our October appeal at jerichoroad.org.au/appeal 🧡

"In chaplaincy settings, we often meet people walking on the boulevard of broken dreams without knowing how to cope with despair.
We often see people dealing with shattered dreams by placing blame on others, turning to excessive drinking, indulging in retail therapy, binge-watching TV shows, isolating themselves, and overcommitting to work."

Have you personally found yourself in a place where you've had broken dreams?

In this blog post, Senior Chaplain Joseph Park explores stories from the Bible about coping with broken dreams, with some practical ways and a short prayer. Read more on jerichoroad.org.au/2024/07/05/broken-dreams-but-hope-gleams/

This International Day of Friendship, we are reminded of the importance of fellowship. As a chaplain, ministering in difficult and hidden places in the community can be at times, very isolating. This video shows how our chaplains found last year's retreat, and how it's vital to support one another 😊 How can you be praying for our chaplains today?
