🌕 Maghi Purnima Celebration at Our Vihara 🌕

Our Vihara warmly invites devotees, families, and well-wishers to join us in observing Maghi Purnima on Sunday, 1st February 2026, commencing from 8:00 am.

Maghi Purnima is one of the most significant holy days in Buddhism. It commemorates the historic occasion when 1,250 enlightened Arahant monks, all ordained by the Buddha himself, gathered spontaneously to hear the Buddha’s teachings. On this day, the Buddha expounded the Ovāda Pāṭimokkha, which encapsulates the core principles of Buddhism:
• To refrain from all evil
• To cultivate wholesome deeds
• To purify one’s mind

This sacred day is traditionally observed through almsgiving (dāna), observance of precepts (sīla), meditation (bhāvanā), and listening to Dhamma, fostering harmony, mindfulness, and compassion.

🙏 We cordially invite everyone to participate in the programme, offer merit, and share in the spiritual blessings of this auspicious occasion at our Vihara.

The Jade Buddha at The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion, Bendigo, Victoria, Australia.

The gemstone was discovered in Canada in the year 2000. The Jade Buddha is 2.5 meters high and weighs around 4 tonnes.
