Christian Spiritualism follows the general concept of the Orthodox Christian Churches. We try at all time to follow the teachings and philosophies of Jesus Christ, and truly believe Him to be the Son of God. The main difference between the Christian Spiritualist belief and that of the Orthodox Churches is in the concept of Christ dying for our sins and thereby, anyone who says that they believe in Christ is no longer sinful. The Christian Spiritualist believes that everyone is personally responsible for their own deeds, actions and thoughts, and that if we make a mistake, only we can put it right, be the correction made in this life or when we pass into the spirit world at the end of this particular lifetime, or indeed if we decide to make amends through our next life. All of this is our personal choice. We do not believe that God is a God of anger and retribution. We truly believe that He has given us free will, which is His greatest gift to us. Through this gift of free will, we are able to make our own decisions, be they for our own spiritual good or not. Only we are answerable for these mistakes, if we make them. We cannot blame anyone but ourselves, and that is taking full and total responsibility for what ever goes on in our lives. If we apply this way of thinking to our own life, then we must surely apply it to all the people who come into our lives. Thus, we realise that no matter how much we love someone we cannot and must not, interfere in their lives. Everyone has their own choices to make. Their own mistakes to make. We believe that God and His son Jesus Christ are there to help us every step of the way. If we need their help, we have but to ask. It will never be refused, if it is in our best interest. But, we cannot put the responsibility for our lives onto anyone else. This is not an easy concept to accept, but once accepted, it makes the reality of living fully, so much more real. Gone are the doubts and fears of the old religious concept of a vengeful and angry God. We see only the love He has for us, for it is truly unconditional. Gone are the old ideas of, "If you do not follow this way of thinking then God is going to punish you." We believe that God created us to enjoy the very life that He created. With love, light and laughter in our hearts, for only in this way can we truly know that what He has given us is so very precious. We believe that Christ died on the cross to show the world the meaning of real unconditional love, forgiveness and compassion. To teach us not to judge others, no matter their colour, creed or belief. For there can be no greater love, than that man will lay down his life for his fellow man. Christ did no less for us.
