Thank you to all of the Common Grace movement, including churches, schools and individuals, who journeyed with us throughout National Reconciliation Week 2026 as we listened deeply to our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Christian Leaders and reflected on 'Reconciliation as Reciprocity'.

We pray this week has been a time of deep connection, reflection, and prayer with your community, as you’ve responded to the invitation to be ‘All In’ for reconciliation.

As we take our next steps together on this journey of reconciliation, we leave you with this blessing written by proud Wuthathi and Mabuiag Island woman, Safina Stewart.

God of justice and reconciliation,
You have made us one body, with many parts.
Send us out now, all in for reconciliation - offering our whole selves.
Teach us to walk side by side, to listen deeply,
and to honour people and Country.
Guard us from shallow words and empty gestures.
May we be people who bring healing, seek justice,
and nurture restored relationships.
Amen. . .

We’d love to hear how you and your community marked National Reconciliation Week 2026 and the next steps you’re taking together on this shared journey of healing and reconciliation! Share in the comments or email us at [email protected] . .

As a next step, we invite you to sign up with your email on the Common Grace website to continue on this journey of deep listening, learning, prayer and action together for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander justice - www.commongrace.org.au

Reconciliation is not a passive activity, and it is not solely the responsibility of First Nations people, who have carried the weight of championing, explaining and acting for far too long.

This year's theme for National Reconciliation Week is 𝐀𝐥𝐥 𝐈𝐧, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.

As a Church, we are called to be people of reconciliation, not as bystanders, but as active participants. This week, and every week, we are 𝘈𝘭𝘭 𝘐𝘯, recommitting to listening, learning, and walking alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the ongoing journey toward justice and healing.

🖤❤️💛

Today on National Sorry Day, we remember the Stolen Generations, children who were forcibly removed from their families. We continue to stand with survivors and their communities.

This year's theme, From Sorry to Action, set by the Healing Foundation, calls on governments to take urgent, tangible steps within survivors' lifetimes. We stand by that call.

Twelve years before the Australian Government apology in 2008, the Uniting Church Assembly affirmed a formal apology to the Stolen Generations , and acknowledged the Church's complicity in intergenerational harm and trauma. That history carries a responsibility, not just to remember, but to act.

National Reconciliation Week follows from tomorrow, 27 May to 3 June. May we walk this week, and every week, with honesty, humility, and commitment to justice. 🖤❤️💛

Today we were reminded that the Presbytery is it's people and we thank God for all the people, both past and present, who have contributed to the Presbytery and it's ministry. Particular thanks to Mike Evans and John Sutton who have given an extraordinary level of commitment and care to their roles for many years.
